We’re starting to worry about the Ford Ranger as excitement boils over for revamped rivals like the Toyota Tacoma. It’s not uncommon for Ford trucks to face trouble, but the Ranger is falling behind the rest of the lineup. Hopefully, the 2024 Ford Ranger can get things moving in the right direction.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger worth waiting for?

Yes, the 2024 Ford Ranger is worth waiting for if you would like a modern truck with improved comfort, advanced tech, stout towing capabilities, and Raptor power in a convenient mid-sized package.

But exactly how long is the wait? Things have gotten delayed a few times. It was supposed to arrive by the end of the summer, but supply chain issues slowed production. Then, the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike didn’t help.

The strike closed the Ranger assembly plant for weeks. Only 15 models rolled off the line in September before the strike started, and it finally ended in October. Production might finally be on track.

Waiting times may vary between three to 11 months, depending on which trim level you order. Some reservation holders haven’t received updates in months, while others have received emails about delays pushing their build dates back to January.

The Ranger faces decreasing sales

Production for the 2024 Ford Ranger needs to hustle because sales for the 2023 model are grim. While the Ford F-150 and Ford Maverick are experiencing massive growth, the Ranger is losing interest.

During the third quarter of 2022, the Ranger sold 12,453 units, but in the third quarter of 2023, it only moved 7,385 models. This represents a 40.70% sales decrease.

In the first three quarters of 2022, the Ranger sold 46,293 models. During the same time period in 2023, it moved 31,503 units. That’s a 31.95% decrease.

But, production of the outgoing model ended in the early summer so the factory could be updated to produce the new generation models.

Also, people may have decided to wait for the new Ranger. It’s no secret that the outgoing model is a bit dated.

Either way, the 2024 models better get moving because the Ranger is dropping at a rapid rate, especially compared to the Ranger and Maverick. Do you think the 2024 model will turn things around?
