Florida man with a suspended license steals SUV to talk to Donald Trump
“Florida man” stories are so far-fetched at times that they’ve inspired silly games, social media jokes, and even a television series. However, others are so wild that they confound even the most seasoned Florida man fans. Enter one suspended license driver so determined to talk to President-elect Donald Trump that he stole a Hyundai crossover SUV and drove to Mar-a-Lago.
Palm Beach Police arrested a Florida man after he stole an SUV and drove on a suspended license to meet Donald Trump
“What could possibly go wrong?” Those may have been words of comfort for one 52-year-old Florida man before stealing a Hyundai Kona. Regardless, sillier minds prevailed, and the Sarasota native decided to steal the crossover SUV and drive to President-elect Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property.
According to the Palm Beach Daily News, the Florida man met with a woman and her rental car company-owned Hyundai SUV. They had reportedly met to finalize a vehicle sale and when the woman went into a bank to retrieve money for the sale, the 52-year-old man waited in the Hyundai. You might know where this is going. She returned to the parking lot to find he had absconded with the Kona, leaving her to report it to the police.
Fast forward to later that day, and the Sarasota man pulled up to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in the stolen Hyundai crossover at around 9:15 p.m. When questioned by security, the man said he would like to speak with the president-elect. Law enforcement pulled the man away and awaited local police.
Upon investigation, police discovered that the small SUV didn’t belong to the Florida man. It was the same missing rental car from the faux car sale. That, and the man had an “indefinitely suspended” driver’s license. As a result, law enforcement arrested the man and took him to the Palm Beach County Jail. Worse yet, the man’s bail is set at $20,250. That’s just around $5,500 shy of a new Hyundai Kona. Ouch.
