Even Jeep Lovers Are Shocked the Wrangler Didn’t Make It on This List
It’s no secret that the Jeep Wrangler has had some issues with reliability. Consumer Reports ranked the 2020 Wrangler extremely low for predicted reliability, for instance. Even loving owners will admit they’ve had problems from time to time. Jeep Wrangler complaints are common. So the fact that the Jeep Wrangler didn’t cut it on the CarComplaints.com list of the 20 worst vehicles surprised… well, pretty much everyone.
When the Wrangler was named MotorTrend‘s 2019 SUV of the year, it wasn’t because of its lack of problems. It was because of the undeniable off-roading soul of the beloved and iconic Jeep Wrangler. And we have to agree, Wranglers are cool.

Jeep Wrangler complaints
On CarComplaints.com, Jeep Wrangler problems abound. The most common Jeep Wrangler complaints are for the 2007, 2008, and 2012 model years. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler accumulated complaints about TIPM failure and head replacement. The 2007 model year is plagued with the infamous “death wobble.” Most of the complaints about the 2008 Jeep Wrangler are for electrical problems.
Overall, however, the Jeep Wrangler doesn’t have as many complaints on file compared to other Jeep models. Although there are 1,839 compaints for the Wrangler, the Jeep Liberty has over 2,000. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most complained about Jeep with 3,011 complaints logged on CarComplaints.com.
The top 20 worst vehicles
On the CarComplaints.com list of the 20 worst vehicles, you won’t find the Jeep Wrangler. Considering its reputation, this will come as a surprise to haters and die-hards alike. The list shows multiple Ford, Hyundai, and Nissan models. And yes, also Jeeps. But not the Jeep Wrangler.
In fact, three different model years of the Jeep Grand Cherokee are on the list. It’s very safe to say that if you chose the Wrangler over the Grand Cherokee, you made a wise decision. We’re pretty sure that even Jeep lovers are surprised that the Jeep Wrangler didn’t find itself on this list.
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler gets some updates for the new model year. We will see some borrowed features from the Jeep Gladiator. These features will include things like the front camera for enhanced trail views and the Off-Road-Plus feature which allows locked differentials even at higher speeds.
There is more tech and more standard features on lower trims. According to MotorTrend, there is also a cool feature that will alert you with horn honks to help you keep your tire pressure on point. This is especially helpful for anyone who takes a little air out of the tires for off-road fun and then has to refill them when it’s time to hit the pavement.
The Wrangler isn’t one of the worst cars
Though the Jeep Wrangler SUV may be one of the best off-roaders ever, it’s not necessarily one of the best all-around SUVs. Still, they are undeniably awesome looking and have grown a huge following of loyal fans. But problems with Wranglers are known, and Wrangler owners are used to seeing their beloved SUV at the bottom of various lists. Even the Jeep Wrangler lovers are probably shocked––and definitely stoked––that the off-road SUV isn’t on the list of CarComplaints.com worst cars ever.
