If the Jurassic Park franchise taught us anything, it’s that Raptors can be dangerous. A third-generation Ford F-150 Raptor truck owner learned that the hard way after an off-road jump attempt went horribly wrong. Don’t try this at home.

The Ford F-150 Raptor is an off-road pickup truck designed for adventure. While some drivers may struggle to find areas to unleash their Raptor’s full potential, other drivers regularly push their trucks to their limits.

According to AutoEvolution, a third-gen F-150 Raptor owner launched his vehicle over a gigantic mound of dirt at Virginia International Raceway’s dirt track. While the aerial portion of the jump seemed to go well enough, the landing was rough, to say the least. Footage of the jump shows a harsh landing that shook the entire vehicle after it landed on all four wheels at the same time. The Raptor may be equipped for hardcore off-roading, but these stunts can wreak havoc on the human body.

Apparently, the Ford F-150 Raptor driver damaged his spine after the jump. On the bright side, the driver is recovering and in good spirits after the jump. He insists that the fault is entirely his own. According to the driver’s social media, it took two rods, six screws, and four bone grafts to fix his spine after the impact.

Off-roading is tons of fun, but it can also be very dangerous. Just because a vehicle can achieve amazing off-road feats doesn’t mean you should attempt those feats, especially without taking the proper precautions. It makes you wonder, do we really need vehicles as capable as the F-150 Raptor and Ram TRX? If you own an extreme off-roader, pick your trails and obstacles carefully because you’ll need a lot more than a band-aid if you choose to tackle the wrong obstacle.

How much do Raptors cost?

Raptor models are expensive because of their features and capabilities. They are the Blue Oval’s most adventurous pickup trucks. Expect to pay a pretty penny if you want an F-150 Raptor.

Is the F-150 Raptor worth it?

Is the Ford F-150 Raptor worth its price? If you’re a hardcore off-road enthusiast, the Raptor is worth the money. There are entire events and communities built around this truck. It can clearly take a lickin’ as well.

If you’re looking for an affordable workhorse, the F-150 is more your speed. If you want to truly live life on the wild side, the F-150 Raptor is a great option. Car and Driver gave the pickup an overall score of 9/10. Is the Raptor too extreme, or exactly what’s needed for hardcore off-roading? If the F-150 Raptor isn’t to your liking, the Blue Oval is now offering a Bronco Raptor as well.
