The Toyota Corolla XSE trim has a base MSRP of $26,580 and an EPA estimated fuel economy rating of 30 mpg city and 38 mpg highway. Upgraded features include a 7-inch digital gauge cluster with customizable settings, an eight-speaker JBL® premium audio system, an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and the Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0 advanced driver assist systems.

New for the 2024 model year of the Toyota Corolla hatchback is the Nightshade edition which has a base MSRP of $24,355. A midnight black metallic roof, black front lower grille surround, black spoiler, and black heated power outside mirrors with turn signal indicators create a stylish look for an affordable price. The other trim levels receive a modest price increase for 2024.

2023 Toyota GR Corolla

The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla AWD hot hatchback is in a class of its own, with an MSRP price range of $35,900-$49,900. A limited run of 6,600 units for this sporty hatchback has placed the vehicle in high demand.

A turbocharged 1.6-liter, three-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission enhances the performance of the standard Corolla model, offering 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The spunky acceleration allows for a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.99-seconds with a top speed of 142.9 mph.

The GR Corolla hatchback is available in the base Core trim, the Circuit trim, which has an MSRP of $42,900, and the high-end Morizo Edition, with a starting price just shy of $50K.

Car and Driver gives the hot hatch a 10/10 rating, saying, “It’s a little terror and this hatchback’s attitude and performance have landed it on our 2023 10 Best Cars list.”

2023 Toyota Prius

The Toyota Prius hatchback has achieved great notoriety as one of the first electric vehicles on the market. The 2023 model year has a base MSRP of $27,450 with an estimated MPG of 57/56. The hybrid system offers a net power of 194 hp with improved acceleration that can achieve 0 to 60 mph in seven seconds.

Features include a top-mount multi-information 7-inch LCD with an 8-inch audio multimedia display. Standard safety features include rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.

Prius trim levels include the entry-level LE, the mid-range XLE, which has an MSRP of $30,895, and the Limited trim, which starts at $34,465.

Offering better performance than previous Prius model years and a stylish new redesign for 2023, Edmunds says, “We highly recommend the Prius to anyone shopping for a fuel-efficient car, especially because two of its core competitors, the Honda Honda Insight and Hyundai Ioniq, have been discontinued.”
