Undercover detectives were en route to a top-secret mission when they suddenly abandoned their plans. Instead of sticking to their high stakes assignment, they stopped to rescue a couple trapped in an overturned SUV.
Florida detectives rescue couple in SUV during mission
In Jacksonville, Florida, undercover detectives were on the way to serve a warrant when their plans suddenly changed. They spotted an SUV that flipped over after a wreck. The serious two-vehicle crash occurred on Collins Road, near Sindler Drive.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office VICE Unit detectives immediately abandoned their assignment to help. They jumped out of their car and rushed to the overturned vehicle.
A couple was trapped inside. However, the detectives pulled them to safety and utilized their medical training to assist with injuries.
Even though they wore plain clothes and didn’t look the part, they acted on their professional training and instincts.
Moments later, firefighters from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue team and emergency responders arrived to administer additional care.
According to CW34, the victims suffered lacerations and other severe injuries. Their quick thinking and courageous actions may have made a significant difference as they provided timely help.
It’s unclear if the detectives continued their mission after stopping to assist with the car crash. The criminal they were going to see may have gotten a few extra days of freedom.
Delaying the arrest of a mysterious suspect is probably worth saving innocent lives. In my eyes, these detectives did the right thing. They were lucky to come across the accident when they did.
