The Toyota Camry has been a favorite midsize sedan for years. It’s an easy vehicle to own, it’s reliable, and it has a lot of history. When it comes to Toyota Camry trim levels, there are plenty available to choose from. However, for some reason, critics can’t seem to agree which Toyota Camry model is best.

These critics rave about this Toyota Camry model

It’s easy to see why MotorTrend and Edmunds recommend the Toyota Camry SE. MotorTrend digs the new car’s LED headlights and various black accents, including the black front grille with a sport mesh insert. They think it’s the best option for the price, especially with all its standard safety equipment.

Edmunds likes this new car because of its reliability. The publication tested the 2018 Toyota Camry SE for over a year, and the interior is still as comfortable as the day it rolled off the lot. It’s also one of the more fuel-efficient midsize sedans you can buy — which is always a plus for new car buyers! All-wheel drive is also available. This year’s new Camry has plenty of cargo and passenger space too.

You’ll like this Camry model if: A good-looking exterior is one of your must-have items while car shopping. You also crave luxurious features that are priced affordably. SE models come with heated mirrors, a rear spoiler, and a voice-activated DVD entertainment center that is perfect for longer commutes.

Car and Driver recommends the TRD trim level

Car and Driver highly recommends the Toyota Camry TRD (which stands for Toyota Racing Development), stating, in addition to its racier body kit—complete with a discrete rear spoiler and a pair of prominent exhaust tips—the sedan sports a retuned suspension that’s 0.6 inches lower than on the regular models.

You’ll be greeted by luxurious features, too, including leatherette seating and a leather-wrapped steering wheel when you hop in. Overall, Car and Driver believes the Toyota Camry TRD is more engaging and fun to drive. They owe it mainly to the 301-horsepower V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, with rivals like the Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata, the Toyota Camry has better qualities in one package.

You’ll like this Camry model if: Performance is always on your mind. The TRD model goes 0 to 60 mph in only 5.6 seconds. You’ll also like this model if you need a sporty sedan ready for any adventure and can keep up with your busy lifestyle.
