The Toyota Camry is one of the most popular sedans on the market right now, and Toyota is happy to make sure it stays that way. There are many reasons why the Camry is so much better than its competition, and Toyota is constantly looking at ways to get further ahead. Here’s a look at the 2022 Toyota Camry and the new features and design changes coming to it.

The Camry got a big overhaul in 2021

For the 2021 model year, the Toyota Camry received upgrades for its interior and exterior. However, one of the more impactful upgrades happened to the Camry’s smart safety systems. The Toyota Camry received the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite as a standard inclusion, and it improved on the already impressive 2020 model year’s safety features.

Elsewhere, the Toyota Camry’s infotainment system was updated. The standard Camry still has a 7.0-inch touch screen, but it was repositioned for the 2021 model year, and it can now be used more like a tablet instead. On top of that, the optional 8.0-inch touch screen was enlarged into a 9.0-inch touchscreen.

While the Toyota Camry’s engines were largely unchanged, the exterior looks were changed for the 2021 model year. The Toyota Camry received a facelift, and style alterations were made on certain trim levels. Overall, the Toyota Camry was made to look sportier than before.

What’s new on the 2022 Toyota Camry

According to Cars, since Toyota already put a lot of work on updating the sedan for the 2021 model year, the 2022 Toyota Camry has much fewer tweaks. The most extensive changes to the model for the 2022 model year are happening to its styling options, especially on its trims.

For example, the Toyota Camry Hybrid will now get access to the SE Nightshade Edition trim. Like its name might suggest, this trim gives the model a darker styling with a lot of black everywhere. This trim is already available on the standard Camry, but the hybrid version will finally be getting it in the 2022 model year.

The LE, SE, and XSE trim levels will also get a new paint option called Ice Edge. The TRD trim, on the other hand, gets an exclusive paint option called Calvary Blue. Other than these styling changes, though, Cars wrote that all Toyota Camrys, except the TRD trim, will also get a dual-zone climate control system as standard.

Other new stuff coming from Toyota

While the Toyota Camry has received minor updates for the 2022 model year, the company made big swings elsewhere. For example, the Corolla Cross is a brand-new compact SUV debuting for the 2022 model year. Overall, the Toyota Corolla Cross looks like a good pick for its segment, as it features a lot of standard features and cargo room for its price tag.

One of the other big swings that Toyota’s doing for the 2022 model year is with the Tundra. After over a decade of the last generation, the Toyota Tundra is getting a total overhaul. Toyota’s made significant changes everywhere with the brand-new Tundra, most notably under the hood. Indeed, the Tundra has two new engines, including a hybrid option.

On top of that, the new Toyota Tundra comes with a ton of smart features. Not only will it have more smart safety features than before, but Toyota is even offering a massive 14-inch touch screen display on the Tundra. At the end of the day, though, the Tundra is still a capable full-size pickup truck, and it can tow up to 12,000 pounds when appropriately equipped.
