Edmunds reviews most modern cars, trucks, and SUVs like the 2016 BMW X3 these days. BMW equipped the 2016 X3 with three different engine choices. All three options provided strong performance and fuel economy. The cabin is high quality and has plenty of room for passengers and cargo. Edmunds said it has better handling than some of its more expensive rivals.

This year of the X3 comes with a lot of safety features standard. Antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, automatic brake drying, and extra airbags are just a few. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the BMW X3 a five-star rating on the overall crash testing.

As the 2023 vehicles roll out, the 2021 BMX X3 might be a good option to take a look at. It comes with two engine options and various ways to customize the SUV. Edmunds thought it was fun to drive and a capable all-around luxury SUV. The interior is comfortable, and the vehicle has all the latest technology. Plus, navigating the menus is easy. Edmunds thinks this is one of the best used BMW X3 years.

Forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind-spot warning were all included standard. The NHTSA gave the 2021 X3 a five-star overall safety rating, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it high marks too. You might be able to find one with plenty of warranty left, which is always a good thing.

Avoid this 2013 BMW sport utility vehicle, if you can

When it comes down to it, the 2013 BMW X3 just lacks in a few areas. It has good engine options and a quality cabin, but this SUV tends to be more expensive than its rivals. Edmunds says it is sport and fun to drive, though. Owners report many issues this year; reliability wasn’t a strong suit.

Electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes are standard. The IIHS gave the 2013 BMW X3 the Top Safety Pick award. Still expensive for its age, the 2013 X3 is an acceptable choice but might be outshined by a less expensive rival.

The BMW X3 has been on a reliability kick in the last few years, with the 2022 X3 receiving high scores from safety groups. If you can’t find any good options in your local area, try expanding your search a bit. You might be able to find a better deal outside your immediate neighborhood.
