The Ford F-Series pickup truck. It’s an American institution and a contentious source of internet debate for the RAM and General Motors (GM) faithful. However, even with the mean-spirited mud-slinging from the nameplate’s most vocal critics, the Ford remains the best-selling pickup truck in the country. Not only is it the most popular truck in the United States, it’s commandingly the best-selling vehicle of any type.

The Ford F-Series, the best-selling pickup truck in America, has a commanding lead over its closest rivals

In 2023, over three-quarters of a million F-Series trucks rolled off the lot and into garages, driveways, and parking spots around the country. That’s not so surprising, though. Frankly, the top three best-selling vehicles in the country are the Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado, and RAM lineup of pickup trucks.

However, domestic competition from Chevrolet and RAM wasn’t enough to dethrone the F-Series. In fact, the F-Series, including the perenially popular F-150, outsold its competition by a wide, wide margin. According to sales data for the year, Ford sold a whopping 207,470 more of its trucks than the No. 2 best-selling pickup truck, the Chevrolet Silverado.

Incidentally, the F-Series outsold the Silverado by 7,089 more units than the total sales of the Honda Civic. Oh, and the Civic was itself the 16th best-selling vehicle in the United States. Consequently, the 750,789 F-Series trucks that Ford sold established the popular model as the best-selling vehicle in America for 2023, bar none.

It’s not just 2023, either. The F-Series has been the most popular vehicle in America for over 40 years. That, and the Blue Oval’s flagship truck nameplate has been the best-selling pickup truck in the country for nearly 50 years.
