Convertibles bring sunshine and fresh air inside the cabin. There’s nothing like driving a hardtop convertible or SUV. For starters, hardtop convertibles add a layer of protection from rain, snow, and other elements. And when you compare them to soft top models, they are more secure. Whether you crave a convertible supercar or a capable SUV for your travels, these are the best hardtop convertibles available in 2022, according to U.S. News & World Report:

Price: $35,350

Starting off the list of best hardtop convertible cars is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata. After all, it’s a fun-to-drive sports car. The top can only be opened by hand, so it isn’t powered. The Miata RF (Retractable Fastback) is worth the investment. This model adds on the limited-slip differential, sport suspension, and advanced aerodynamics.

2022 Porsche 911 Targa

Price: $121,300

Believe it or not, the original Porsche 911 Targa models came equipped with a removable roof panel. More recent models have a mechanical ballet of moving panels. The hardtop convertible can open or close completely in under 20 seconds. Targa body styles include the Carrera, S, and GTS versions.

2022 Chevrolet Corvette

Price: $60,900

The Chevy Corvette is a classic vehicle with a removable roof panel. The best part? You can store it neatly in the trunk behind the engine so it’s out of the way as you drive this hardtop convertible. There is also a fully power-retractable hardtop option, depending on your preferences.

2022 Jeep Wrangler

Price: $29,995

The Wrangler SUV comes in many variations, making it one of the most capable SUVs you can find. There is an optional three-piece Freedom Top hardtop. Jeep also offers the Sky One-Touch power-retractable roof. However, it’s not a full hardtop (the retractable part is a cloth material). It’s also only available with certain trim levels and is more expensive.

2022 Ford Bronco

Price: $29,300

Perhaps you’re in the market for a rugged, compact SUV. If that’s the case, the 2022 Ford Bronco features a hardtop convertible with removable front-row roof panels. In addition, there is a retractable and removable cloth top available with the two-door Bronco. It does come as a standard feature on the four-door model.

2022 Jeep Gladiator

Price: $37,565

The 2022 Gladiator has a lot to offer. It has a crew cab, four-wheel drive, and a mighty V6 engine. This truck does come standard with a soft cloth top, but you can upgrade to the three-piece Freedom Top hardtop for an additional $1,695. There is also a body-color Freedom Top for $2,695, but it’s only available on select trim levels.

What other models made the list?

Other models made U.S. News’ list of the best hardtop convertibles, including the Ferrari Portofino M, which travels from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, and the Ferrari F8 Spider. The 2022 McLaren 720S Spider is another supercar powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. The most expensive hardtop convertible car on the list? The 2022 Aventador S Roadster starts at about $550,000. It might not be in your price range, but it features a 6.5-liter V12 engine that delivers 769 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque!
