Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 made the list of best electric SUVs for seniors

When Kelley Blue Book ranked some of the best senior-friendly SUVs, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 received high marks. On the base SE Standard trim, a maximum estimated range of 220 miles and 168 hp are plenty. Forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring are included.

High-beam assist, automatic on-off LED headlights, and taillights make night driving easier. The 12.3-inch touchscreen is large and easy to navigate, and heated front seats make life easier in the cold.

Hyundai’s electric SUV also earned the Top Safety Pick Plus award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It also earned a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Inside, the ID.4 is comfortable and quiet. Range estimates sit at 209 miles or 107 MPGe. That means senior drivers or any drivers will be able to keep charging to a minimum. The Pro-grade gets 275 miles, if that helps.

Automatic on-off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights make driving a bit easier. Heated mirrors with turn signals, keyless entry with push-button start, and an automatic dimming mirror are also helpful features. Some of the standard safety systems include forward collision warning with auto emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The entry-level Wind trim gets 225 hp and offers an estimated range of 310 miles. Kia’s fast-charging technology means it can go from 10% State of Charge (SoC) to 80% in less than 20 minutes.

Automatic LED headlights and taillights are helpful, along with heated mirrors with integrated turn signals and a power rear liftgate. The steering wheel is adjustable along with the seats, and the front seats are heated/ventilated. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is easy to use.

Parking assist and automatic emergency front-rear braking make life easier for drivers. The EV6 also gets blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keeping assist. It gained a spot on the list of best electric SUVs for seniors and earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus award.
