The panoramic sunroof is a luxury feature that is now available on a number of affordable vehicles. Having a glass roof lets in plenty of sunshine while driving and lets in air with less road noise than having the windows down. But even vehicles that have a panoramic sunroof don’t always have one on every trim level. The 2021 Kia Sportage is one of those vehicles. Here’s which trims to look for if you want that panoramic sunroof.

Which trims of the 2021 Kia Sportage offer a panoramic sunroof?

The 2021 Kia Sportage has four available trim levels: LX, S, EX, and SX Turbo, says U.S. News. The LX base trim of the 2021 Kia Sportage doesn’t come with an option for a panoramic sunroof. The panoramic sunroof is available on the next two trim levels, and it comes standard on the top SX Turbo trim level. The panoramic sunroof in the Sportage includes a power sunshade.

A breakdown of the trim levels

The LX, S, and EX trims have a 181-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, while the SX Turbo has a 240-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Front-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel drive costs $1,500 to add to the LX, EX, and SX Turbo trims, and it’s an extra $1,700 in the S trim since it comes with heated front seats.

The LX comes with cloth seats and has optional Tricot cloth seats. The S and EX have synthetic leather seats, although leather seats are optional in the EX. They’re standard in the SX Turbo. Heated outside mirrors are optional on the LX trim and standard on the other three. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard in all trims except the LX.

Heated front seats are available in the LX and S and standard in the EX and SX Turbo. A leather-wrapped gear shifter is optional in the S but standard in the EX and SX Turbo. A power liftgate comes standard on the EX and SX Turbo trims. Ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel are options in the EX and standard in the SX Turbo.

The LX trim of the 2021 Kia Sportage comes with plenty of standard tech and safety features. It has Bluetooth, a USB port, and voice recognition. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard as is compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A six-speaker stereo system is standard on the LX, S, and EX, but an eight-speaker Harman Kardon premium system is standard on the SX Turbo and an option on the EX trim.

Wireless phone charging and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are also standard on the SX Turbo. Both are options on the S and EX. The SX Turbo also provides voice-command navigation and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Remote keyless entry is also standard on all trims.

All four trim levels come standard with a number of advanced safety features, including a rearview camera, driver attention monitoring, high-beam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.

The S trim adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The EX has optional parking assist, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control. The SX Turbo comes standard with these same three features. All four trims come with LED daytime running lights, but only the SX Turbo trim has LED headlights and front fog lights.

The 2021 Kia Sportage

U.S. News ranks the 2021 Kia Sportage third on its list of compact SUVs. It has spacious seating for adults and a high-quality interior; however, its fuel efficiency isn’t as good as some of its competitors. The Sportage has 30.7 cubic feet of cargo room, which increases to 60.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. That’s less than some of its competitors.

It does have good predicted reliability and a lower-than-average base starting price. The LX trim starts at $24,090, according to the Kia website. The S trim starts at $26,590, and adding the package that includes the panoramic sunroof increases the price by $1,500. The EX trim has a starting price of $27,390, and adding the package with the panoramic sunroof increases the price by $4,560. The SX Turbo starts at $33,750.

The base LX trim of the 2021 Kia Sportage has a lot to offer, with plenty of tech and safety features. Buyers dreaming of a panoramic sunroof, though, will need to stick with one of the higher trim level options.
