Acura is the luxury arm of Honda, and just like its parent company, Acura has a lot of great cars in its lineup that routinely sell well. One of the luxury automaker’s more recent successes is also one of the company’s newest cars in its lineup, the Integra. Here’s a look at the Acura Integra, the Japanese automaker’s newest car that’s been seeing a huge amount of growth this year as far as sales go.

The 2023 Acura Integra represents a revival of the nameplate

The Integra name has been around for decades, but many American car shoppers last heard of it over 16 years ago. Back then, it was known as the Honda Integra, and it was eventually rebranded as the Acura RSX before being discontinued due to business reasons. But, in 2021, Acura announced that it was reviving the Integra nameplate, and it was going to replace the ILX, which was discontinued after the 2022 model year.

The brand-new 2023 Integra was based on the Honda Civic, and obviously, it’s a more luxurious and powerful version of the commuter sedan. It has a starting price tag of about $31,000, and it comes with one engine option.

It’s a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder that makes 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque, and that’s more power than what the Civic’s starting engine gets. Its tech features are similar to what the Civic gets though, but the Integra comes with luxury features like synthetic leather upholstery as standard.

Acura has been selling far more units of the Integra in 2023 than before

Since the Integra is a luxury sedan, it’s not selling as well as the Civic is, but it’s still doing well, according to GoodCarBadCar. So far this year, the luxury Japanese automaker has sold over 19,000 units of the Integra. That’s a solid amount for a new car, but what may be impressive is how much the luxury sedan’s sales have grown.

For example, in July 2023, Acura sold 2,742 units of the Integra. That’s a nearly 92% increase from the 1,429 units that the company sold in July 2022. The difference in the car’s year-over-year sales are even larger. In the first seven months of last year, the automaker sold 2,925 units of the car. That means that, year-over-year, the Integra’s sales grew by 558%.

Those numbers shouldn’t be shocking, though. The automaker only started production of the Integra in May 2022. As such, Acura simply didn’t have many units to sell for much of 2022. Overall, Acura only sold just about 13,000 units of the Integra in 2022. But since Acura is selling about 3,000 units of the Integra every month in 2023, its monthly sales pace is still doing better than it was last year.

Here’s how the numbers compare to others

It’s tough to know how much of the Integra’s sales growth is due to production ramping up compared to consumer demand for the car, but its sales numbers are good nonetheless. The Integra is already the second best-selling Acura model in America. It’s behind the MDX, which has sold just over 36,000 units so far this year.

However, the Integra has only sold a few hundred units more than the closest Acura model, the RDX. As such, the Integra may end up being the third best-selling Acura at the end of the year. It’s too close to call right now.

Either way, the Integra is doing well compared to other luxury automakers. It’s beating a few great luxury models like the Lexus GX, the Genesis GV70, and the Lincoln Navigator.
