If you’re looking for a midsize sedan, the Kia K5 and the Nissan Altima are both good, practical choices. Both have room for five people and affordable prices, but some features are more enticing. While Kelley Blue Book compared the two vehicles, we’ll cover three reasons to skip the Kia K5 and choose the Nissan Altima instead.

Is the Nissan Altima a comfortable sedan?

When you own a 2023 Nissan Altima, you can honestly say that you have the most comfortable seats a car can have. Nissan created the car’s seats based on the inspiration of the weightlessness of space and created zero gravity seats. They believed that the human body assumes a neutral spinal posture in space, so they made it part of their design.

KBB notes that an added bonus to the zero gravity seating is that it gives you a better sense of control and you stay comfortable for a more extended time, as well as alleviating fatigue while driving. All of those are great if you have a long commute or you like to go for long drives, and it’s also a good choice for those trying to improve or maintain an ideal posture.

The 2023 Altima has an extra layer of convenience

The Nissan Altima has a 12.3-inch touchscreen, compared to the 10.3-inch unit the K5 has. It’s not a slight difference, as a bigger screen helps people see text and buttons better. You can access maps, music, and other apps you can add. The touchscreen also features wireless Android Auto and Apple car play. You can also use the touchscreen to access other car features, such as using the backup camera so you don’t accidentally hit a car behind you while reversing or out of a parking spot.

Another area of convenience provided by the 2023 Nissan Altima is fuel economy. Good fuel economy means that you don’t have to purchase fuel as often, keeping more money in your bank account. The 2023 Nissan Altima has 28 MPG for city driving and 39 MPG for highway driving.

Both midsize sedans have optional All-wheel Drive

Both the Altima and the Kia K5 have all-wheel drive, a feature that isn’t hard to find on a midsize sedan. That said, not all midsize sedans have all-wheel drive. When you choose a vehicle with all-wheel drive, the torque is sent to all wheels, giving you better traction in slippery or wet conditions. Front and rear-wheel drive only send power to two wheels.

Other Reasons: Safety

Some safety features that the 2023 Nissan Altima has that the Kia K5 might not include automatic emergency braking, high beam assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Those safety features, combined with the safety features it shares with the K5, such as pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, blind spot warning, and lane departure warning, make the 2023 Nissan Altima the better choice.

There are many factors that go into choosing a vehicle, whether it’s the price, the way it looks, feels, or the features, and sometimes it’s the most minor aspect that makes the deciding factor. Whether it’s the all-wheel drive, the zero gravity seating, or safety features, the 2023 Nissan Altima is a car worth buying.
