Absolutely, the updated Chevrolet Silverado 1500 should be on your list of trucks to consider. It has an amazing new interior design, advanced tech upgrades, and enhanced off-roading capabilities. However, the 2022 Chevy Silverado isn’t perfect, and there are three possible drawbacks to think about.

Three possible 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 dealbreakers

To quickly bring you up to speed, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 has an MSRP of $34,600. Higher trim levels increase the price to over$54,000. However, features like perforated leather seats, the advanced trailering system, and a single-speed transfer case are worth it.

There are plenty of things to love about the Silverado, including the improved passenger space, modern exterior design, and several powertrain options to meet a variety of towing needs. But some critics ran into problems.

1. The Silverado 1500 could have a better ride quality

According to Cars.com, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is a bit lumbering. It feels quite large and a little numb. But it is composed around curves and feels responsive even if the transmission is slow to upshift.

The noise inside the cabin is a little louder than expected for a luxury option, and the ride is a little rougher compared to rivals. However, the dampening has been improved for a smoother ride than before.

The engine is smooth and quiet, while the brakes are firm and confident. With the 6.2-liter engine, the Silverado can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.4 seconds.

2. The 2022 Silverado 1500 has tech improvements to make

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is loaded with new tech, such as the massive 13.4-inch touchscreen. It offers Google Assistant, Amazon Alex, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.

But the team at Cars.com had trouble, The voice controls didn’t work, and the buttons on the back of the steering wheel caused the system to crash. The digital gauge cluster froze, and calls were sent to voicemail before they could be answered.

The buttons for the climate control are pretty small and difficult to see. Plus, it took multiple attempts to get an iPhone connected via Bluetooth. Sometimes restarting the truck was the only way to get around annoying issues.

3. The fuel economy is disappointing

The 6.2-liter V8 engine in the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 cranks out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, which is an exciting amount of power. It can tow up to 13,000 lbs when properly equipped. But the Silverado 1500 is very thirsty. The team at Cars.com got about 16.9 mpg with it.

Also, the 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine only gets an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and up to 26 mph on the highway. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel gets up to 30 mpg on the highway, so the Silverado is falling behind the competition.

Despite having a rougher ride than rivals, the Silverado 1500 has a luxurious interior packed with value, and the tech could receive an update to improve its performance soon. These three issues aren’t big enough to be drawbacks.
