Looking for a truck that was built in the USA? These trucks from American brands have plenty of configurations to suit buyers’ needs. Ford, Ram, and Chevrolet have multiple production plants around the country that build these popular pickup trucks below. If buying an American pickup truck from an American brand is on your to-do list, check out the options below.

The Ford F-150 leads trucks from American brands

You can’t have American trucks without the 2021 Ford F-150. Built in Dearborn, Michigan, Ford’s truck has been one of the best-selling vehicles for many years. U.S. News says the Ford F-150 has many engines to choose from to suit most buyers’ needs and can tow up to 14,000 with the right equipment.

When it comes down to it, the year isn’t that important. Semiconductor chip shortages and other supply chain delays have made some vehicles harder to find. You can buy a new or used F-150 from most recent years and have a good truck. Depending on which features are essential, a 2021 or 2022 Ford F-150 has plenty of ways to get the job done. While the 2022 truck increased in price, it also has more standard safety features. On the flip side, you might be able to find a better deal on a 2021 F-150 that has a few miles on it.

Original MSRP Range: $29,290 – $76,530

You can’t have trucks from American brands with a Ram

Buyers of the 2021 Ram 1500 will be happy to know it is built at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan. Ram also produces some varieties at another plant nearby. Ram has plenty of engine choices and other ways to configure pickup trucks, making it suitable for many buyers. However, Ram only offers the 1500 with an extended or crew cab bed.

When properly equipped, it can tow up to 12,750 pounds. Ram has eight trim levels for buyers to choose from, including the new TRX. The good news is that the Ram pickup truck comes from an American brand and is a competent truck for most situations. Experts and owners agree that the Ram is more comfortable than other trucks in the segment. The 2022 Ram also increased in price, but the 2021 version still has plenty of modern safety systems and features.

Original MSRP Range: $29,510 – $70,325

Don’t overlook the Chevrolet Silverado

Trucks from American brands include the Chevrolet Silverado
A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado | Chevrolet

You can’t have trucks from American brands without the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado. Chevy builds the Silverado at two plants in Indiana and Michigan. With eight trim levels and five powertrains, buyers will likely find a Silverado that does the job. Chevrolet doesn’t offer all the powertrains with all the cab and bed options, so prioritize whatever is the most important and go from there.

For buyers loyal to Chevrolet, the Silverado is an excellent American option. When properly equipped, the Silverado pickup can tow up to 13,300 pounds. That is enough to cover most situations, but you will need the 6.2L V8 engine for that. Similar to the other trucks, the 2022 Silverado went up in price. If you can find a 2021 version with low miles, it might be a better option than a brand-new truck.

Original MSRP Range: $29,300 – $57,700

These trucks from American brands are best sellers every year for a reason. Full-size pickup trucks like the ones listed here from Ford, Ram, and Chevy, are the best in the segment. Otherwise, buyers might want to upgrade to a heavy-duty option.
