The Chevy Trailblazer has proven itself as a popular small SUV in the Chevrolet lineup, maintaining its top-tier status for over two decades. While the popular Chevy Trailblazer has its own set of fans, selling more than 33,000 units in Q2 2023 alone, it’s not the most popular vehicle in the Chevy lineup. Here’s a look at three Chevy models that have proven themselves to be more popular with consumers than the Trailblazer.

The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse has sold more

The first Chevy model up on the list is the Chevrolet Traverse. According to GoodCarBadCar, compared to the Chevy Trailblazer’s 33,857 units sold during Q2 2023, Chevy was able to sell 37,147 Traverse units during the same period. The Traverse also saw a great increase in year-over-year sales growth, considering Chevy only sold 20,841 units of the Traverse last year during Q2 2022.

The 2023 Chevy Traverse is available in five trim levels: LS, LT, RS, Premier, and High Country. Chevy offers the baseline LS at a starting MSRP of $34,520. In addition, this SUV averages 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. The Traverse is also a spacious SUV providing 98.2 cu. ft. of cargo volume.

Next up on the list is the Chevy Malibu. Based on data collected by GoodCarBadCar, this sedan sold an impressive number of units in Q2 2023. The Malibu exceeded Trailblazer sales by nearly 7,000 units as Chevy was able to sell 40,730 Malibu units during the quarter. Compared to Q2 2022, the Malibu experienced nice sales growth and was able to sell around 8,000 more units year-over-year.

The 2023 Chevy Malibu is available in four trim levels: LS, RS, LT, and 2LT. Chevy offers the baseline LS trim at a starting MSRP of $25,000. This family sized-sedan offers 15.7 cu. ft. of cargo space and comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist. In addition, the Malibu averages 27 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.

A look at the 2023 Chevrolet Equinox

The final model on the list that has proven itself to be more popular with consumers than the Trailblazer is the Chevy Equinox. The data from GoodCarBadCar shows that Chevy was able to sell a whopping 52,949 units of the Equinox during Q2 2023 alone. While clearly Chevy’s most successful SUV based on the sales number, it still isn’t the most popular Chevy model overall. That title goes to none other than the Chevy Silverado pickup truck, which put up an impressive 141,298 units sold during the same period.

The Equinox is available in four various trim levels, including the LS, LT, RS, and Premier. Chevy starts the baseline LS trim at an MSRP of $26,600. This SUV is smaller than the Traverse but bigger than the Trailblazer with 63.6 cu. ft. of cargo area. The Chevy Trailblazer only offers a maximum of 54.4 cu. ft., while the Traverse provides a spacious 98.2 cu. ft. of cargo volume. The Equinox also averages 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Undoubtedly, the popular Chevy Trailblazer is one of the top Chevy models, and there’s no denying that it can certainly hold its own as an SUV. However, based on space and pricing alone, it’s easy to see why more consumers would opt for the Equinox or the Traverse over the Trailblazer if they’re in the market for a practicable and affordable SUV.
