The 2024 Toyota Tundra Just Outranked the Chevy Silverado
The battle between large trucks continues as rivals like the Toyota Tundra, Chevy Silverado, and Ford F-150 get smarter, more capable, and more luxurious. The 2024 Toyota Tundra is doing something better as it cracks into the top three by taking the Silverado down a peg.
2024 Toyota Tundra vs. 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500: Which truck is better?
The 2024 Tyoota Tundra and 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 don’t stack up apples to apples. They both have unique benefits to offer.
For example, the Tundra has a hybrid engine and the Silverado carries on as one of the limited options with a diesel engine available.
However, according to Edmunds, the 2024 Tundra outranks the 2024 Silverado. The Tundra has a score of 8.0 out of 10 while the Silverado earned a 7.5.
The Tundra is in third place, and finally managed to crack the top three American brands. The Silverado is down in fifth, behind the GMC Sierra 1500. The Ford F-105 and Ram 1500 took first and second place.
Positives for the Tundra include its smooth power delivery, intuitive tech, a standard composite bed to reduce dents and scratches, and its 14.0-inch touchscreen looks great. But the base engine has a subpar fuel economy and it doesn’t have a multi-function tailgate.
The Silverado ranks highly for its diverse engines to fulfill towing and hauling needs, abundance of rear legroom, excellent bed capacity, and easy-to-use tech. But it rides rougher than its primary rivals and the ZR2 model doesn’t measure up.
It looks like the Tundra scores higher in the performance, comfort, interior, value, and wildcard categories. But the Silverado has higher scores for its tech and fuel economy.
When properly equipped, the Tundra can tow up to 12,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,940 lbs. The Silverado can tow up to 13,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,290 lbs.
The Tundra outranks for the Silverado for being more plush, comfortable, refined, and value-packed. But the Silverado has a better fuel economy with diesel power and can get more work done.
