The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Fixes 1 Frustrating Problem

Get excited because we get to see the Toyota Grand Highlander come out next week, and it’s delivering significant changes. We got a sneak peek of the interior, and we can confirm that the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander corrects one annoying issue.

How much space will the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander have?

We don’t have the official specs about the cargo and passenger space for the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander yet. However, we do know adults can do something in it that they can’t do in the regular Toyota Highlander.

They can fit in the backseat! A new Grand Highlander teaser image shows an adult and a child sitting in the third row. The adult’s knees aren’t even hitting the back of the second row! This would be impossible in the regular Toyota Highlander.

The third row in the current Highlander is pretty tight. It sits higher than the other two rows, and the bottoms of the seat come up to the back of the second row. It’d possible for adults to access and is reserved for small children.

Also, there are only two seats back there. Pickup Truck Talk points out the third row of the Grand Highlander has three seatbelt buckles, so maybe it can carry more people. You can see that there are storage cubbies in the third row with USB ports for charging devices too.

The rear hatch seems to be set right up against the back of the third row, but the trunk area can reportedly fit seven suitcases. Unfortunately, we don’t know the size of the luggage that’s positioned behind the rear occupants.

What engines will the Grand Highlander have?

We’ve only seen a few easers about which powertrains will be available with the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander so far. But we could learn more once it comes out on February 8, next week.

Until then, we can speculate that the Grand Highlander will be available with the Hybrid Max powertrain that’s currently offered in the Toyota Crown. The turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 340 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque in the sedan.

Because the 2024 Grand Highlander will be larger and heavier than the sedan, these figures could be different. The 2023 Toyota Highlander has a standard turbocharged 2.4-liter inline-four engine with 265 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque.

It could serve as the entry-level option with the Grand Highlander. However, we’re hoping for a little extra muscle. The regular Highlander can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.0 seconds, which is average, but not exactly exciting.

Also, the Highlander can tow up to 5,000 lbs. The Grand Highlander might tow more. It needs to reach 5,500 lbs to match the Kia Telluride.

How much will the 2024 Grand Highlander cost?

We’re still waiting for the official price of the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander to be released. But we know it will slot between the regular Toyota Highlander and the Toyota Sequoia. The 2023 Highlander starts at $36,420, and the 2023 Sequoia kicks off at about $58,365.

That’s a broad range, but some critics suggest it will begin at about $40,000. The 2023 Kia Telluride starts at $35,890, though. So, the Grand Highlander will need to pack in the value to be worth the higher price.

Stay tuned for the latest updates. We are only days away from learning more about the new Toyota Grand Highlander. It could be available by the end of the year.
