New hybrids are increasing in popularity and may be more sought after than fully electric vehicles. The 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid and the 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid are both excellent sedans and are attracting a lot of attention from critics and consumers alike. But which is the better vehicle? Let’s take a look at some of the specs to find out.

Elantra Hybrid vs. Corolla Hybrid: Engines

Hyundai has recently refreshed the Hyundai Elantra, and there will be several engine options. These include a 2.0L engine, 2.0L turbo engine, 1.6L turbo engine, and 1.6L hybrid electric.

The Corolla Hybrid offers a 1.8L hybrid engine, with all-wheel drive available on some trims.

Elantra Hybrid vs. Corolla Hybrid: Fuel economy

While Hyundai hasn’t released the fuel economy ratings yet, MotorTrend believes it will get a very impressive 53 mpg city and 56 mpg highway. The Corolla Hybrid’s fuel ratings can’t match this. It only gets 53 mpg city and 56 mpg highway.

Elantra Hybrid vs. Corolla Hybrid: Passenger and cargo space

The cargo space in the Corolla Hybrid is 13.1 cu. ft. There are 37.1 inches of headroom and 34.8 inches of legroom in the back.

The Elantra Hybrid tops the Corolla when it comes to cargo space. It has 14.2 cu.ft., which is over a cubic foot of space. It also has superior passenger space. There are 37.3 inches of headroom and 38.0 inches of rear leg room in the rear.

Elantra Hybrid vs. Corolla Hybrid: Safety technology

Both Hyundai and Toyota invest heavily in safety, but which offers more? The 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid has a surround-view monitor, blind-spot view monitor, and parking distance warning equipped with forward and reverse. There are also rear-side airbags, a rear seat belt reminder, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision warning, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist. To get most of these features, you need to upgrade to a higher trim.

The 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid comes with lane keep assist, a pre-collision safety system post-collision safety system, dual front and dual rear side-mounted airbags, front and rear head airbags, a passenger airbag, an occupant sensing deactivation, a rear-view camera, and adaptive cruise control.

Elantra Hybrid vs. Corolla Hybrid: Reliability and safety

Because the 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid has yet to be released, we don’t have any reliability ratings at this time.

The NHTSA gave the 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid a higher safety rating. It earned an overall safety rating of five stars. In comparison, the NHTSA has not given the 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid an overall rating yet, because the side crash has not been tested. So far, it has only four stars for the frontal crash test and four for the rollover.

Neither vehicle has any recalls, investigations, or complaints just yet.

Elantra Hybrid vs. Corolla Hybrid: Which has the better warranty coverage?

Toyota has a basic three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, along with a drivetrain warranty that lasts for five years or 60,000 miles. Hyundai once again outperforms Toyota with a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty, and a five-year, 60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty.

How does the pricing compare?

Hyundai has not released the pricing information on the 2024 Elantra Hybrid model, but it will most likely be very affordable and worth the money. We recently reported that U.S. News gave the 2023 Hyundai Elantra the Best for the Money award, and the 2024 model will likely be cheaper as well.

Elantra Hybrid vs. Corolla Hybrid: Which is the better hybrid?
