In many ways the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid sets the standard for compact SUVs, with an advanced powertrain and everyday versatility. Its appealing bodywork looks ready for adventure, and with Honda’s reputation for reliability, you know it’s good for the long haul. To make things even better, the new CR-V Hybrid has a relatively affordable starting price of around $33,000.

However, some manufacturers list a low MSRP to draw in potential buyers. But when customers add essential features, the price skyrockets, leaving a serious dent in their bank account. Is that the case with the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid: features, specs, pricing

The latest Honda CR-V is a stellar SUV, earning a 10/10 rating from Car and Driver. Among the highlights are composed ride and handling, an upscale interior, and an available hybrid powertrain. When equipped with Honda’s two-motor hybrid setup, the CR-V has superb fuel efficiency.

Honda offers the 2024 CR-V Hybrid in the following configurations (prices not including destination):

• Sport Hybrid: $33,350

• Sport-L Hybrid: $36,350

• Sport Touring Hybrid: $39,500

The CR-V Sport Hybrid produces 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. That’s routed to the front wheels via CVT for versatile, reliable performance. But the real story is fuel economy, with the Sport Hybrid obtaining 43/36/40 mpg city/highway/combined. The 7-inch color touchscreen infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a power moonroof brings open-air motoring on sunny days. Beyond that, the compact SUV has good looks and a modern and comfortable interior.

Moving up to the next trim level, the Sport-L Hybrid brings upgrades like 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8-speaker 320-watt sound system. A wireless phone charger keeps devices topped off on the go, and leather seats offer tailored comfort. Power figures and fuel economy are identical to the Sport trim (FWD).

The top-of-the-line CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid has high-end features all around. Real-Time AWD brings all-conditions versatility. 19-inch Berlina Black wheels add sleek curb appeal. Inside, a heated steering wheel makes winter mornings more comfortable, and a 12-speaker Bose Premium Sound System provides crystal-clear audio. While hp and torque are the same, gas mileage slightly decreases to 40/34/37 mpg city/highway/combined (thanks to the all-well drive).

2024 Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid: a reasonably-priced build

In base configuration, the Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid is a solid ride with exceptional fuel efficiency. But we added a few things to make it even better. Were we able to keep it close to the starting price?

On a modern SUV, all-wheel drive is a given for most shoppers. It’s simply needed for traction and versatility. So we added that for $1,500.

Next, we went with Crystal Black Pearl paint ($0) for subtle style on the streets. Inside, black cloth ($0) went well with the interior’s modern look.

Then we added the All-Season Protection Package I ($460), with splash guards, all-season floor mats, and a cargo tray. That’s nice to have when the snow begins to fall.

Beyond that, there wasn’t much to add. The total price ended up at $35,310, so not too far from the starting MSRP.

Sometimes a vehicle’s starting price isn’t indicative of its true cost. Base models can feature spartan equipment and basic powertrains, forcing buyers to select more expensive options. But the 2024 Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid has straightforward pricing, and a decently equipped build doesn’t break the bank. For drivers wanting a hybrid compact SUV, the 2024 CR-V Hybrid is an excellent pick.
