The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is quite possibly the most exciting version of the Mach-E. Initially, the Mach-E nameplate was met with plenty of skepticism. Today, the small SUV has gained the acceptance of many Blue Oval fans and auto enthusiasts alike. The Mustang Mach-E Rally boasts impressive performance specs. How much does it cost?

Ford’s new Mustang Mach-E Rally trim has a starting price of around $65,000, making it the most expensive Mach-E that the Blue Oval has produced thus far. At $65K, the small electric SUV is far from affordable enough for the average consumer. So, who is this configuration for, and is it actually worth the money?

Ford Motor Company calls the Mustang Mach-E the first Mustang “made to live on Tarmac and play in the dirt.” In short, the Mach-E Rally is a performance trim that’s designed for folks who desire quick acceleration and capability from the electric SUV. Is it a practical daily driver? Probably not. Instead, this beast is more of a special edition reserved for consumers curious about how far the Blue Oval’s engineers can push the Mustang Mach-E nameplate.

Most of us may never get behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, but its performance specs are still exciting to gearheads. After all, who doesn’t enjoy heaping helpings of instant torque?

How powerful is the new Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally?

The Mach-E Rally shares a powertrain system with the mighty Mach-E GT; only this pony is tuned to perfection. It makes a whopping 480 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, since the Mach-E GT produces up to 634 lb-ft of torque, expect the Mach-E Rally to beat the GT’s 0-60 time of around 3.7 seconds. The newest trim level could hit 60 miles per hour in closer to 3.5 seconds (or even less). Milliseconds mean little to the average consumer, but the power of the GT and Rally proves that this iteration of Mustang stays true to its heritage.

Whether powered by gas or electricity, Mustangs still have plenty of giddyup. Lower trim levels are practical, while upper trims like the GT and Rally maintain the Mustang’s fierceness. It’s a family SUV that can hold its own on the track (in the right configuration).

The Mustang Mach-E nameplate has seen better days. Additionally, it has encountered a few reliability issues since its debut, including a battery issue that rendered some models immobile. That being said, many EVs have experienced battery overheating problems that led to serious mechanical malfunctions, so these issues aren’t exclusive to Ford electric vehicles.

Don’t expect thousands of fans to rally behind the Rally. Instead, it’s much more likely that this configuration will excite audiences at auto shows and act as a mascot for Ford’s new era of automotive excellence: the age of EVs. There’s little doubt that the 2024 Mach-E Rally will be fun to drive. Will the thrilling new EV exceed expectations?
