The 2023 Porsche Taycan is the quintessential electric sports car. This Porsche EV hits all the right notes for luxury shoppers, EV enthusiasts, and sports car drivers. Porsche even went as far as to make an SUV version of the Taycan called the Cross Turismo.

Is the Porsche Taycan in competition with Tesla?

This electric Porsche sports car is so much better in almost every area that it’s not really in competition with Tesla. This includes the Tesla Model S Plaid, which is extremely fast and powerful. Sure, the Taycan is more expensive, but it’s also much better than any Tesla.

Note: The only area where The Tesla Model S beats the Porsche Taycan is the driving range.

1. The 911 influence is present in the 2023 Porsche Taycan electric sports car

The Porsche 911 is the foundational car from which styling for nearly every Porsche is derived. When it comes to design, style, and sportiness, the Taycan resembles the 911 with its long and athletic profile. This new Porsche EV offers a style that looks more like a car than most Tesla vehicles.

2. The Taycan offers a more inviting cabin

Tesla cornered minimalistic and futuristic styling with the Model S and Model 3 sedans. These cabins are nice and offer large touchscreens with almost all controls built into them. Most automakers have adopted these styling elements for the cabins of current electric vehicles, but not Porsche.

The Porsche Taycan offers an attractive two-tone interior with touch buttons, built-in screens, and digital gauging where you find them on traditional vehicles. This look is much more inviting and contemporary than the futuristic styling found in Tesla EVs.

3. An analog addition to the Porsche Taycan

Porsche has a long history of iconic sports cars. The 2023 Porsche Taycan electric sports car is available with the Sport Chrono Package, which includes an analog stopwatch on the dashboard with a small digital clock in the center. This is a welcome addition compared to the digital displays offered in the rest of the cabin.

4. This Porsche EV takes regenerative braking to a new level

Most EVs and PHEVs include regenerative braking to add more energy back into the system for the electronics running in the background. Porsche takes this to a new level. In the Porsche Taycan, more than 90% of the braking is done by the electric motors without the need to touch the brakes. The Taycan can regenerate up to 265 kW of energy while braking, which is incredible.

5. The driving dynamics of the 2023 Porsche Taycan electric sports car are off the charts

The Taycan has insane power, reaching 750 horsepower in the Turbo S model. This version also delivers nearly 800 lb-ft of torque from the electric motors, delivering instant acceleration to rocket to highway speeds in a hurry.

As expected, Porsche delivers the braking, suspension, and steering systems to handle this impressive power level. Wearing the Porsche name comes with expectations, and the Taycan hits a home run with the best package of handling features found in an EV.

6. It’s all in the name

Of course, the name is the most obvious reason a Porsche Taycan is preferred to any Tesla. Tesla went boring and nerdy with the four models that spell out S-E-X-Y, although the Model 3 is the E in reverse. Porsche gives us Taycan, which is a much cooler name.
