2023 Kia Niro: A Small SUV Powerhouse With a Secret Weapon
Small SUVs have a tough job, but one option from Kia seems to do them all effortlessly. A compact vehicle like the 2023 Kia Niro must be small enough to drive and park easily but offers more room than a traditional sedan. However, the Kia Niro Hybrid has a particularly helpful secret. The 2023 Kia Niro’s fuel economy is beyond impressive, especially considering the low price.
How much should I pay for a 2023 Kia Niro?
The 2023 Kia Niro starts at $26,590 for the base LX trim and goes up to $34,890 for the top-of-the-line Touring. Kia pulled out all of the stops for the 2023 Niro, offering three electrified powertrains and better fuel economy than ever before.
Kia continued its driver-centric focus on the interior, and all trim levels are pretty well-equipped. The Kia Niro Hybrid has a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a range of 588 miles. There is also a plug-in hybrid variant with 180 horsepower and an all-electric range of 33 miles.
Finally, there is also a Kia Niro EV with 201 horsepower and 253 miles of all-electric range. With that sort of lineup, there really is a Kia Niro for everyone. Inside the Niro, there are five comfortable seats. For those who want a feature-packed SUV that has a pretty reasonable price, the 2023 Niro makes a lot of sense.

|Hybrid SX Touring||$34,890||53/45/49 MPG|
The Niro Hybrid also uses regenerative braking technology for added fuel economy. The trim levels have a 479 to 588-mile projected driving range, far more than most of the competition.
Add to that the 22.8 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up or 63.7 cubic feet with the seats down, and you have a pretty well-rounded compact SUV.
Is the Kia Niro Hybrid safe?
As far as the Kia Niro safety features, all trim levels come pretty well equipped. Forward Collision Avoidance, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Lane Departure Warning come on all trim levels. Kia added Full-Length Side Curtain Airbags, Dual Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags, and Dual Front Advanced Airbags to every Kia Niro as well.
So far, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not given the 2023 Niro an overall safety rating. The safety group did approve of the included safety technology. However, as a brand-new vehicle with many standard safety systems, the Niro is a safe option.
Beyond the 2023 Kia Niro fuel economy, it is one of the cheapest SUVs in the segment. Kia designed the Niro to be a hybrid vehicle from the ground up, so it didn’t start out as a gasoline version. There are few options out there that offer the value the Niro does, and that doesn’t even include the excellent fuel economy.
