The Ford F-150 Lightning has been on a rollercoaster since its debut. At first, prices kept rising, but now they’re coming back down again. Hopefully, this is a sign that trucks are getting more affordable. Anyway, check out how much the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning costs now. 

How much does the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning cost?

The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro starts with an MSRP of $49,995. The $1,995 destination fee brings the price up to $51,990. The price was reduced from $59,974, creating roughly $9,070 in savings after the price cut. 

Pricing for all other models will be cut by $6,0000. The top-spec Lightning Platinum extended range is down from $98,000 to $92,000. 

You will save an additional $1,000 if you build your XLT, Lariat, or Platinum model online or through your local dealership from July 6 – 31. Your electric Ford truck could be eligible for the $7,500 federal tax incentives if it costs under $80,000. 

It also brings the entry-level model closer to its original $40,000 price when it debuted in 2021 for the 2022 model year. People were upset because the price increased a few times due to supply chain shortages, inflation, the rising costs of goods, and unexpected demand. 

Marin Gjaja, Chief Customer Officer, Ford Model e, explained that right after the F-150 Lightning launched, rapidly rising material costs, supply constraints, and other factors increased the price for customers and Ford. 

However, Ford continued working to improve accessibility and affordability and decrease pricing for the popular Ford electric truck. 

Fox News reports upgrades at the Rouge Electric Center improving battery raw material costs and continued scaling of production costs are making this lower pricing possible.  

How many Lightning models will be built in 2023? 

There could be over 200,000 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning models built in 2023. However, the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, will be closed for serval weeks while production upgrades are put in place. 

Production is expected to resume in the fall and should be tripled. Roughly 150,000 models can be made per year, but that’s short of the 200,000 model goal. 

It’s unclear if the closure will cause delays, but the upgrades could triple production. Early in February, an in-house battery fire caused the plant to be shut down for five weeks. The issue was corrected, but Ford only sold 4,466 models during the second quarter of the year. 

Ford claims that you will get your electric F-150 by the end of October if you put your orders in today, but that schedule feels tight. 

How much range does the F-150 Lightning Pro have?

The 2023 Ford F-150 Lighting Pro has an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles. Upgrading to the extended-range model provides up to 320 miles of range. The Pro features 452 hp, while extended-range models have 580 hp, but both variants have 775 lb-ft of torque. 

You can tow up to 5,000 lbs with the Pro and up to 10,000 lbs with higher trims. The Chevy Silverado EV WT starts at $74,800. It might have a range of 400 miles and can tow up to 10,000 lbs. 

The Lightning Pro starts at $25,805 less, but the range feels limited. Also, the Silveraod EV may have cheaper terms available later. It’s possible that truck prices will continue to fall, so stay tuned for the latest production updates.
