There is an influx of new electric crossover SUVs coming out, and the latest one to debut is the 2023 Fisker Ocean EV. It was unveiled this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. With its attractive styling, impressive performance, and accessible cost, the Fisker Ocean will be a formidable challenger to the Tesla Model Y and other crossover EVs. When will the 2023 Fisker Ocean be released and available?

Announced July 1, 2022, the 2023 Fisker Ocean is slated to enter production in November of 2022. Initially, 5,000 Ocean One launch edition models will be available to customers, followed by three trims: Sport, Ultra, and Extreme. 

As part of the announcement of the 2023 Fisker Ocean release date, pre-orders opened to reservation holders for a $5,000 non refundable deposit. Deliveries are expected to follow soon after the start of production in November.

How much does the 2023 Fisker Ocean cost?

Fisker has already released the price information for the 2023 Ocean. The base-level Ocean Sport trim costs $37,499, while the mid-tier Ultra trim costs $49,999. Both the Ocean Extreme and Ocean One launch edition models have a starting price of $68,999. These prices don’t include the options and accessories that you can get for the 2023 Ocean. Also, some customers may be eligible for the federal EV tax credit, which will lower the price. 

2023 Fisker Ocean specs: Horsepower, acceleration, and towing

The base-level 2023 Fisker Ocean Sport trim has a front-wheel drive single electric motor setup, while all of the other Ocean trims have a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. The single electric motor generates 275 hp, with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 6.9 seconds. For the dual-motor system, the output is 550 hp, with a 0-60 mph time as low as 3.6 seconds. That’s Tesla-like acceleration, but at a more affordable price. 

On the towing front, the Ocean Sport can tow up to 2,040 pounds, while the AWD models have a maximum towing capacity of 4,000 pounds.

Driving range, charging, and battery for the 2023 Fisker Ocean

Fisker stated that there will be different battery sizes available for the 2023 Ocean, but the EV automaker hasn’t yet released their capacity. The driving range estimate is 250 miles on a single charge for the Ocean Sport FWD model. For the Ocean AWD models, the estimated range is 350 miles. 

Fisker didn’t yet release the details about the charging times for the Ocean. However, the crossover EV will be compatible with most charging stations, including fast-charging stations. Also, with its partnership with Electrify America, Fisker will offer some complimentary charging. Additionally, the Ocean features “SolarSky” roof-mounted solar panels, which provide up to 2,000 miles of driving range per year.

What is the 2023 Fisker Ocean California Mode?

A standout feature for the 2023 Fisker Ocean is California Mode. When you select California Mode, the side windows, rear glass, and roof retract, transforming the Ocean into a convertible.

Another notable feature for the Ocean is the 17.1-inch touchscreen display, which can rotate horizontally and vertically for either a landscape or portrait position. Also, the crossover EV has many standard driving assistance technology features. The full suite of driving assistance features, called Fisker Intelligent Pilot, is only available for the Ocean Extreme and Ocean One trims. This includes a semi-autonomous drive mode, as well as a 360-degree camera.
