The 2022 GMC Hummer electric pickup truck is a vehicle no one would have imagined becoming a thing. It is at once a revival of one of the most infamous vehicles of all time, the Hummer SUV, as well as the brink of a new type of vehicle. The GMC Hummer truck is so astounding and confounding at the same time, that one can’t help but notice it – and that may be exactly what GM wants.

GM is bringing back the Hummer as a 2022 truck

It may have been surprising when GM announced that it was going to bring back one of its most iconic vehicles of all time; the GMC Hummer. What’s even more interesting is that this time, it’s an electric pickup truck. The 2022 GMC Hummer truck will have a variety of options to choose from, though the very expensive Edition 1 is already sold out.

There are two other types of GMC trucks you will be able to buy after the GMC Hummer Edition 1. The 2022 GMC Hummer EV3X is coming after the Hummer Edition 1. After the EV3X comes the Hummer EV2X and then the Hummer EV2.

The GMC Hummer is unlike any other electric truck on the market

The 2022 GMC Hummer may share the same name as the old Hummer that was discontinued in 1990, but that’s where the similarities between these two Hummers end. While the original GMC Hummer was a massive gas-guzzling SUV, the new Hummer is an electric pickup truck. Of course, this new Hummer is also enormous, so perhaps they aren’t quite as different as they may first appear.

The fact that the GMC Hummer sport utility truck (SUT) shares a name with the old Hummer and yet looks so different may be at least a little bit intentional by GM, according to Gear Patrol. That’s because when you hear the Hummer name it can’t help but “resonate and grab attention. It primes you to expect something big, noteworthy and aggressive — which is precisely what GMC is going for with the Hummer EV SUT.”

The Hummer SUT will be a thoroughly impressive electric truck

The 2022 GMC Hummer is designed to go head-to-head with traditional electric trucks. To do battle with large pickup trucks with V8 engines, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV will have 1,000-hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. That’s because electric torque is different from mechanical torque. In an electric vehicle like the Hummer, that 1,150 comes from the torque being applied to the tires.

The GMC Hummer SUT will also have a three-motor 4WD system and be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds. That’s no easy feat for an electric truck the size of the 2022 Hummer. It will also have a respectable range: 350 miles on a full charge.

The 2022 GMC Hummer SUT is going to be an exceptional electric truck. It’s sure to make a name for itself and usher in a new electric age for GM. Will other car manufacturers follow suit with impressive versions of electric pickup trucks? We’ll have to wait and see.
