The Acura MDX is a three-row, mid-size SUV that has been produced by Honda’s luxury brand, Acura since 2000. The Acura MDX offers practicality and utility. With its three rows of seating, it is well-equipped to handle family life. Additionally, according to Car and Driver, the MDX has up to 95 cubic feet of cargo space. As well as hidden cargo storage areas which add to the usability of this mid-size SUV.

Even with all three rows up, there is room for things like strollers and other bulky items. Which is something that growing families are likely to appreciate.

Better yet, the 2022 MDX delivers on luxury material. With available full-grain leather and wood trim, the MDX is a comfortable place to be. Even on long road trips.

How powerful is the 2022 Acura MDX?

In terms of performance, the MDX comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission to ensure optimal power delivery. The V6 makes 290 horsepower and 267 pound-foot of torque. For added performance, buyers can opt for an available turbocharged V6 engine. This powertrain makes 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque.

For those who live in colder climates or buyers who want added capability, the available all-wheel-drive system will give ample power to all four wheels. This system also allows for towing of up to 5,000 pounds.

What trims is the Acura MDX available in?

The new Acura MDX is available in six unique trim levels. These include the MDX base, MDX Technology, MDX A-Spec, and MDX Advance. For those shopping for a luxury SUV that offers serious performance, the Type S and Type S Advance are likely the right picks.

Is the Acura MDX a good SUV?

The Acura MDX represents a luxury SUV backed by the Honda brand. While prior models have faced recalls, there is hope that the 2022 model has corrected those issues. If the Type S is out of reach, it is likely that the Technology trim can fill your needs. This model comes with leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and low-speed front and rear automated emergency braking. The ELS Studio stereo system will outfit your SUV with 12 speakers.

The Acura MDX finds itself compared to a number of other luxury SUVs. These include fellow Japanese brand Lexus, with its RX as well as American vehicles such as the Buick Enclave and Lincoln Aviator.

Other popular SUVs that buyers may cross-shop are the Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, and Genesis GV70. All of these vary in pricing and what features they offer. By far the best way to determine which luxury SUV is correct for you is to visit a dealership for a test drive.
