Acceleration time is one of the best ways to show the performance capabilities of sports cars and supercars. Automakers continually push the limits to reach the end of the quarter-mile strip first. Check out the 10 fastest production cars with the quickest quarter-mile acceleration time in 2023.

What cars have the fastest 1/4-mile acceleration time?

Fastest cars with the quickest 1/4-mile acceleration time: Rimac Nevera electric hypercar

In the past, the cars with the fastest quarter-mile acceleration time were primarily gas-powered with massive engines that could churn out a lot of power. However, electric vehicles’ arrival completely changed the race. With electric powertrains’ instant torque delivery, EVs have inherent acceleration advantages over their internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts.

Here are the 10 fastest production cars with the quickest quarter-mile time in 2023:

  1. Rimac Nevera — 8.25 seconds
  2. Pininfarina Battista — 8.55 seconds
  3. Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 — 8.91 seconds
  4. Lucid Air Sapphire — 8.95 seconds
  5. Ultima Evolution — 9.2 seconds
  6. Tesla Model S Plaid — 9.23 seconds
  7. McLaren 765LT — 9.37 seconds
  8. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport — 9.4 seconds
  9. Ferrari SF90 Stradale — 9.5 seconds
  10. Ferrari LaFerrari — 9.7 seconds

The Rimac Nevera has the quickest 1/4-mile acceleration time

The fully electric Rimac Nevera takes the top spot as the fastest production car with the quickest quarter-mile acceleration time. In May 2023, Rimac claimed the Nevera completed the sprint in only 8.25 seconds (it previously held the record at 8.6 seconds). With its eco-friendly zero-emissions powertrains, EVs are the future of the automotive industry. In addition, electric cars boast impressive performance capabilities, and this is on full display with the Nevera.

The Rimac Nevera packs four electric motors, generating an incredible output of 1,914 hp and 1,740 lb-ft of torque. On top of touting an 8.25-second quarter-mile time, this $2 million hypercar can rocket from 0 to 60 mph in under two seconds.

The Pininfarina Battista has 1 of the fastest 1/4-mile acceleration times

In February 2023, Automobili Pininfarina announced its $2.2 million Battista had broken the world record by reaching the quarter-mile in 8.55 seconds. This all-electric hypercar harnesses 1,900 hp and 1,696 lb-ft of torque, reaching a top speed of 217 mph. It packs a 120kWh battery and four motors that send power to each wheel. Additionally, the lightweight carbon fiber body and chassis, featuring a double-wishbone coilover suspension, help make this EV among the fastest production cars.

This $100,000 American muscle car is one of the few fastest non-EVs. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 boasts a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Hemi engine generating 1,025 hp and 945 lb-ft of torque. It touts a “certified” 8.91-second quarter-mile acceleration time at 151.17 mph. This beast can also roar from 0 to 60 mph in 1.66 seconds and “generate the highest G-force acceleration of any production car at 2.004 Gs,” Dodge says.
