The Tesla Model 3 is one of the most popular electric offerings by Tesla. The compact electric luxury sedan has garnered widespread acclaim for its impressive performance and cutting-edge technology. However, like any other vehicle, it isn’t immune to criticism. Tesla Model 3 owners have complained about several issues with the car, but one of the top three complaints is really inconvenient.

One of the Tesla Model 3 complaints is just not being careful

We’ve seen different automakers issuing recalls for their vehicles due to various issues. Most times, owner complaints about vehicles are usually valid, with the blame falling squarely on the automaker. However, other times, car owners issue complaints about their vehicles, with the issue being a direct result of user irresponsibility rather than a fundamental flaw in the car.

A Tesla Model 3 owner wrote about a problem they faced with the car, claiming they had gotten locked out of their Tesla. “Such a crappy car to be called as luxury. Worst service center. Just 3 months old car. My car was locked down, and I was told that it is due to their internal security control failure,” the complaint read in part.

As frustrating as that sounds, it’s important to note that modern cars like the Model 3 come equipped with advanced security systems. Fortunately, this is a rare thing to complain about on Car Complaints.

How such an issue could be avoided?

To be human is to err, and sometimes life gets so busy that we end up forgetting some important things. Tesla owners may forget or misplace their key card, effectively locking themselves out of the car, but there are ways to avoid such an issue. Tesla provides drivers with a key card to use as a backup in case their key fob gets damaged, stops working, or is lost. Thankfully, the internal security issue that affected this complaint doesn’t seem widespread, so the best way to avoid the issue is to know where your phone key and key card are at all times.

Keeping this key card separate from the optional key fob and in a secure location will ensure you have another reliable way of accessing your vehicle without needing to take it into a shop. Another way is through your smartphone. Thanks to Tesla’s mobile app, Tesla owners can use their phones as a key.

The app allows you to start, lock, and unlock your Tesla. You can also share access to your vehicle remotely. Not only is it a convenient option, but it also reduces the likelihood of getting locked out of your car, as most people usually have their phones with them at all times.

There aren’t many Tesla Model 3 complaints

The Tesla Model 3 changed the electric game for life. It is one of the most affordable EVs in the market right now and has a solid performance and an impressive driving range. The vehicle has few complaints on Car Complaints, with the top one being a cracked glass roof on a 2018 Model 3 and issues with starting on a 2022 Tesla model.

The 2023 Tesla Model 3 has a starting MSRP of $41,880 and costs as much as $54,880. The rear-wheel-drive Long Range Model 3 went from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, while the top trim, Performance, only took 3.5 seconds to get to 60 mph. The Model 3’s base trim, Standard Range RWD, offers 272 miles of range, while the other two trims provide an estimated range of 315 miles and 358 miles, respectively.
