A Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin police officer was driving around town on daytime patrol. As he pulled up to an intersection, he noticed the red Mazda sedan to his left, sitting in the turn-only lane. When the light turned green, everyone drove forward. The sedan unexpectedly moved in front of the cruiser. The driver went straight through the intersection instead of turning. The cop turned his lights and sirens on, signaling the suspect to pull over.

The Mazda doesn’t immediately slow down. The officer calls it in, tracking the car ahead of him. After some time, the driver finally pulls over. In response, the cop slows to a stop and heads over to the left front window. “Don’t go!” he suddenly yells, realizing the motorist’s intentions.

The Mazda chase begins, and the officer counts up the speed

The suspect, a female, seems alone in the car. The pursuing police cruiser clocks an initial speed at 60 mph…but soon ups it to 90. As the pair approach a curve, the chase slows back down to 60. However, there’s nothing safe about the Mazda driver’s next move: she switches lanes, crossing in front of a low cement lane barrier. She hangs out on the wrong side of the road before turning at an intersection and flooring it around other cars.

Speeds shift back up as the Mazda blasts forward on the wrong side of the road

The officer remains calm as he narrates the driver’s erratic 75 mph movements.

Traffic picks up a bit on a two-lane road, and the cop clocks the Mazda at 90 mph, weaving around other motorists despite the double yellow lanes lines.

“Speeds are 100,” the officer announces. Soon after, “Speeds is at 110.”

The cop explains to his radio that he’ll need to slow down as they approach a roundabout. The Mazda, though, hits the traffic feature at about 90 mph. The driver plows into the landscaping, unable to keep the lane during the high-speed turn, and continues on down the road.

The pair slow down yet again, this time to 60, as the police officer notices the Mazda has blown left tires. Still, the suspect persists, passing a line of traffic, including a motorcyclist. “Tire’s getting obliterated here,” the officer observes tire debris shooting out to the shoulder.

Suddenly, while the Mazda passes another group of cars, the suspect spins out in the opposing lane. The car shoots back into the correct lane, but right in front of other cars. The police cruiser quickly pulls in front of her, boxing her at the shoulder.

The woman gets out of the Mazda and moves back to the trunk area. She’s holding her cell phone, apparently calling her mom. Another cruiser pulls up and demands the driver get on the ground. Both officers make the arrest. “All you had to do was stop!” an officer calls out. “For a simple [curse] ticket.”
