The Subaru Impreza is completely revamped for 2024 with a host of new features and updates, the most prominent of which is the sedan body style has been dropped, making the Impreza exclusively a hatchback. Additionally, the popular Subaru Impreza RS trim level, which debuted in 1998 and has recently been on hiatus, has returned. So, what’s included in the 2024 Subaru Impreza RS?

The 2024 Impreza is available in several trims

The Subaru Impreza is the most affordable hatchback on the market to come standard with all-wheel drive. Pricing for the 2024 Impreza starts at $24,085 for the base trim and buyers can add a host of desirable features with the mid-range Sport model that commands $26,085 MSRP.

The standard model includes dual 7.0-inch displays, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a four-speaker stereo, 60/40-split folding rear seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The base Impreza rides on 16-inch wheels with adaptive headlights and roof rails. Driver aids include adaptive cruise control, automatic forward emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.

The Sport model swaps the dual-screen setup for an 11.6-inch touchscreen with a larger digital driver’s display, navigation, and Subaru’s Starlink connected services. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker audio system, keyless entry, push-button start, 18-inch wheels, and sportier suspension tuning round out the upgrades of the mid-range model.

The Subaru Impreza RS trim level tops the lineup

The most notable upgrade for the Subaru Impreza RS trim level, and fitting for its “Rally Sport” moniker, is a more powerful engine under the hood. The RS swaps out the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 152 hp for a larger, 2.5-liter four-banger delivering 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque.

The RS stands out from the rest of the lineup with dark gray 18-inch wheels, RS exterior badging, a black finish to the grille, side spoilers, side mirrors, and upgraded LED headlights and fog lights.

The interior features unique gunmetal and simulated carbon fiber trim accents, black cloth front sport seats with red bolsters, an upgraded leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, aluminum alloy pedals, heated front seats, and USB charge ports for rear passengers.

The RS is also fitted with blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The RS can also be had exclusively with an optional 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, moonroof, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support.

With its long list of upgrades, the 2024 Impreza RS starts at $28,975 MSRP to top the model lineup.

Other updates for the 2024 Subaru Impreza

The 2024 Subaru Impreza serves as the first iteration of the model’s sixth generation. In addition to now only being offered as a hatchback, the Impreza’s styling has been tweaked for a sportier appearance, and there are several major updates under its new bodywork.

The Impreza now borrows its dual-pinion electronic power steering rack from the WRX, providing a more natural steering feel, according to the automaker. The 2024 Impreza’s tortional rigidity has been increased by 10%.

Unfortunately for enthusiasts, the Subaru Impreza RS trim level is not offered with a manual transmission. Instead, all Impreza models are fitted with a continuously variable transmission. However, the Sport and RS models offer paddle shifters to allow drivers to select from eight pre-set ratios.

Subaru’s Starlink 11.6-inch touchscreen also debuted in the Impreza for the 2024 model and is fitted to the Sport and RS trims.
