Throughout Ford company history, there have been quite a few unique, or quirky, vehicles produced by this Detroit-based company. From the Ford Mustang II that saved the Mustang from the 1973 oil crisis to the incredibly rare Ford EXP, a compact two-seat sports coupe of the 1980s, there have always been some interesting vehicles found in Ford’s lineups. However, which Ford vehicle on sale today is the quirkiest? Here is everything you need to know about the quirkiest vehicle of Ford’s 2023 lineup.

2023 Transit Connect: the quirkiest model in Ford’s lineup

The standard Ford Transit is far from a quirky, unique vehicle. The Transit has been Ford’s light commercial cargo van offering since 1965 when it was first offered in the United Kingdom. However, the Ford Transit Connect is an entirely different model altogether.

According to Ford, the Transit Connect takes the Transit platform and outfits it with a smaller body, and a more passenger-friendly interior. Starting at around $35,600, the Transit Connect has seating for seven, solid fuel economy at 28 MPG highway, and all the capabilities of a cargo van.

Ford advertises the Transit Connect as a passenger wagon. In the Titanium model, passengers get leather-trimmed seats, USB smart charging ports, dual-zone climate control, and remote keyless entry.

This quirky, unique offering from Ford is one of the only current cargo vans you can buy today with passenger comfort and livability in mind.

Most of Ford’s lineup is pretty straightforward

Sadly, the Ford Transit Connect is not long for this world, with the 2023 model being the last model that will be produced by the company. With its discontinuation, Ford’s lineup is incredibly sterile. Moving forward, the Ford lineup will consist of the Mustang, Escape, Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Edge, Mustang Mach-E, Expedition, F-150, Maverick, Ranger, and a few variants of these vehicles.

While the Ford lineup is fairly basic, it does offer a solid amount of SUVs and trucks, with the Mustang acting as the sole car in the lineup. This Mustang also has no plans of discontinuation with a brand new generation being unveiled for the 2024 model year.

The Maverick has been a home run as well, being built on the already existing Escape platform and giving truck owners a hybrid engine option. With the disappearance of the Transit Connect, the Maverick is likely the new quirkiest Ford.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

The Ford lineup proves the old saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. A few years back, Ford decided to cut its traditional car offerings like the Focus and Fiesta. Ford realized that crossover SUVs and trucks made up a vast majority of its sales. By cutting down its lineup to just top-selling trucks, vans, and SUVs, the company has proven that following sales truly does pay off.

Ford’s lineup may not be all that unique or quirky, but it is a solid lineup of top-selling vehicles that are all home runs, there isn’t a single dud in the Ford lineup.
