There are only a few options if you’re looking for a luxury hybrid sedan with a touch of sportiness. However, if you don’t mind looking at the used market, you can find what you want in the 2020 Acura RLX. This forgotten sedan is a luxurious, sporty bargain. Let’s see what it has to offer.

Although the Acura RLX wasn’t super popular back in 2020, it could be worth the price of entry in the used market. Under its hood is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s mated to a 47-hp motor that’s housed inside its seven-speed automatic transmission. It’s an interesting hybrid setup, for sure.

But what makes the powertrain even more special are the 36-hp electric motors powering each rear wheel. Did we mention that the car is AWD? It is. Those little motors vector torque between the wheels to help the car during cornering. Anyone familiar with the second-generation Acura NSX will realize that it’s the same powertrain setup, just reversed.

However, the hybrid setup is not as powerful in the RLX as it puts out 377 hp, compared to the NSX’s 520. But the power isn’t the only thing that makes this large sedan special. According to the EPA, the 2020 RLX can achieve up to 28 mpg on the highway and 28 mpg in the city, which is stellar for a large luxury sedan with that much power. It’s no Prius, but the RLX is far more comfortable and stylish.

The Acura RLX is elegant and comfortable

In addition to being a sporty hybrid, the Acura RLX is a comfortable and elegant sedan. Inside, the interior is adorned in Milano leather, and you’ll find all of the luxury amenities you can want. There’s a 14-speaker premium Krell sound system, tri-zone climate control, and many modern safety systems. Some of the notable safety features include front/rear parking sensors, lane-keep assist, and a pre-collision safety system.

According to a nationwide search on CarGurus, the average price for a 2020 Acura RLX is around $36,000. That’s a bargain considering the MSRP on the car was around $62,000. We even found some examples with around 12,000 miles on them selling for $33,000 – now that’s a bargain! That’s also a large drop in value in only three years, but the car was never that popular and luxury cars, in general, tend to depreciate quicker than others.

If you’re looking for a sporty hybrid sedan but aren’t sure what’s available, the Acura RLX could be worth checking out. It may have been forgotten by most of the general public, but that means it could be a hidden gem to the right buyer.
