A 20-year-old driver in Brookline, just south of Boston, put a temporary halt to train service last week when he got his Corvette stuck on the tracks. Based on the police report, the car should never have been on the street to begin with, nor should the driver have been.

Imagine the panic that set in for the 20-year-old when the 2024 C8-generation Corvette Stingray that he was driving got hung up on the T tracks about six miles from downtown Boston. A typical 20-year-old probably finds such a situation terrifying. Now, let’s tack on the fact that the driver didn’t have a license.

But wait, there’s more. The Corvette was also uninsured. Yikes. Oh, the supercar was also unregistered. That’s quite the trifecta of lawlessness right there.

The driver of the Corvette was reportedly unfamiliar with the area

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Transit Police (MBTA TPD) reported on social media that the driver told police that he was unfamiliar with the area. That’s why he said he took a wrong turn onto the train tracks at around 4:55 p.m. last Wednesday.

Making matters even worse for the driver, train service on the line had to be suspended. An MBTA wrecker had to be called in to remove the Corvette from the tracks.

MBTA TPD also added that the unlicensed driver is now facing criminal charges for operating an unregistered, uninsured car. Perhaps the driver had to use the very train line he halted to find his way home after the incident. Because he certainly wasn’t going to drive anymore.

In fairness to the driver, the intersection does look a little tricky to navigate, especially in the dark.
