Most people know Sony for its televisions, movies, music, and the PlayStation. But cars? Yes, cars.

Hey, if a robot vacuum cleaner company can make a supercar, why can’t Sony make an EV?

At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Sony Honda Mobility revealed its Afeela Prototype 2026, an electric SUV that will become available in North America as early as 2028.

Sony will actually make the Afeela Prototype 2026 its second vehicle for sale in the U.S. Sony has scheduled deliveries of the Afeela 1 to begin in 2026 in California, with the company planning to expand to Arizona in 2027.

The Afeela Prototype 2026 will, like the Afeela 1, will boast what Sony Honda Mobility is calling a “Creative Entertainment Space.”

“Vehicles will evolve from driver-centric machines into intelligent partners that understand user preferences and emotions, maximizing the value of space and time during mobility,” the company stated in a press release.

What exactly is a Creative Entertainment Space?

Digital Trends, which was there for the unveiling of the Afeela Prototype 2026, reports that it will “likely get the PS Remote Play functionality of the Afeela 1, allowing you to stream games you own on your PS4 or PS5 and play them in the car (providing you have a strong enough internet connection).”

A large panoramic display up front, along with entertainment screens in the rear, could also appear in both models.

Assuming the Afeela Prototype 2026 will match the Afeela 1, it will come with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) called AFEELA Intelligent Drive.

“Starting with Level 2+ driver assistance that supports travel from the departure point to the destination, the company aims to achieve Level 4–equivalent capabilities in the future, transforming the in-vehicle space into a ‘drive-less’ environment where occupants can enjoy entertainment,” Sony stated.

It will also come standard with an interactive conversational AI “Personal Agent.” This agent will “deliver highly personalized, natural dialogue experiences tailored to individual users.”

In addition to all of that, Sony Honda Mobility says the Afeela will also feature a Snapdragon Digital Chassis, an advanced suite of automotive products and solutions from Qualcomm.
