California semi-truck driver crashes through Starbucks wall

A semi-truck driver in California may have needed a coffee before he accidentally crashed through the wall of a Starbucks in Oceanside.

Firefighters with the Oceanside Fire Department shared that the incident occurred around 4:45 AM, the perfect time for coffee if you have to be awake that early.

The trucker lost control and veered off the road, slamming into the side of the building. As you can imagine, the accident caused significant damage.

The driver was trapped in his truck cab and his rescue was delayed. Firefighters couldn’t get the man out of the tractor-trailer until San Diego Gas & Electric cut power to the building. Employees and patrons were evacuated from the building.

A hazmat crew came out as the truck’s diesel tank may have been ruptured. They didn’t find any hazardous spills. Also, the Oceanside police officers are investigating the cause of the accident.

According to 10 News, the semi-truck driver and one employee were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. This ordeal caused traffic delays for hours as authorities begged drivers to take alternate routes.

The building has been deemed temporarily unsafe and is pending a complete structural evaluation. Who knows how long drivers will be without their favorite Starbucks location, but things could have been much worse.
