A man from Florida was checking into a resort and gave the valet keys to his Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV. That’s when 21-year-old Malik Patterson saw his opportunity to hop behind the $339,750 wheel and disappear.

Police responded around 2:15 a.m. The white luxury SUV was spotted speeding in the opposite direction from them shortly after. Officers told CBS Miami they didn’t pursue Patterson but stayed close.

Suddenly, Patterson lost control of the Rolls Royce and crashed through a Checkers fast food drive-thru. Police found Patterson missing, the car’s airbags deployed, and the emergency lights flashing. Thankfully, the collision didn’t harm patrons or employees inside the building.

The Rolls Royce owner was shockingly casual

The Rolls Royce owner, who opted to remain nameless on camera, seemingly shrugged his shoulders about the theft.

“I was sleeping and there was a knock on the door, saying that [my] car was taken from the valet and we found it at Checkers over here on Commercial Boulevard, so I was like, ‘Great,'” the owner said.

“I’m going to say I’m not shocked, I mean, it’s a Rolls Royce and people like to steal things and take a little bit of a joy ride. But this joy ride didn’t end up too fun for this person because he’s locked up and the car’s totaled so,” he shrugged and asked, “What are you going to do?”
