Tennessee police find felon in stolen truck with sawed-off shotgun
One felon in Tennessee decided to go big instead of hiding under the radar. In an attempt to escape to freedom, he stole a truck and led a police chase. But he failed to outrun the cops and now faces a long list of charges.
Tennessee felon caught with stolen truck and gun
Police officers in Nashville, Tennessee, were watching traffic for speeders when a pickup truck flew by on Interstate 65. Upon following the vehicle, they realized that it was reported stolen.
Officers started to tail the vehicle, and it led a brief police chase. A police helicopter was brought in to continue following the man.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Demarius Fite, drove from the Rose L Parks Boulevard exit to the 1600 block of 22nd Avenue before giving up.
He pulled over and exited the pickup. Fire was arrested and police officers searched the vehicle. They recovered a stolen shotgun. The serial number was altered.
According to WSMV, Fite had previous convictions for aggravated assault, burglary, and theft. Now his charges include vehicle theft, reckless driving, felon in possession of a firearm, driving with suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and alteration of serial numbers on the shotgun.
Luckily, no one was injured. However, I hope the owner of the stolen truck gets their ride back soon. It could be held as evidence for a while.
Also, I hope Fite didn’t damage the vehicle. Criminals don’t always take the best care of stolen cars. If Fite wasn’t speeding, would he have been noticed by the cops? Following traffic laws can be extremely beneficial!
