You know what they say. Revenge is a dish best served sweet. And glazed. And by the dozen. I don’t actually know if anyone says that, but they should.

One Redditor shared a story of revenge so sweet it got 30,000 upvotes. The way he tells it, late one night “my girlfriend and I get a serious hankering for some snacks.” They realized it was only 8:30 PM and the late night donut shop was open until 9. So they drove over for some delicious goodness.

They knew from experience, parking could be tight. “There are only three parallel parking spots a little up the street from the place, , and they are all 15-minute spots which are usually full.” But thank their lucky stars, one was open. They drove up the side street, pulled a u-turn, and closed in on the empty spot.

Driving etiquette dictates they didn’t yet have “dibs” on the spot. But then the driver rolled just past it, turned on her signal, and began backing in. At this point, it was definitely there spot. And any civilized being would have let them into the spot. But apparently they were dealing with savages.

“This little white vespa driving behind us whips into the spot.”

Battling it out for a donut shop parking spot

The magnanimous Redditor assumed the driver didn’t see his girlfriend’s signal. “I roll down our window and call out to the driver ‘Scuse me, we were just backing in.’ The driver seems to be a pretty univ student who shrugs her shoulders and calls out to me ‘sorry, first come first serve!’ while her and her friend share a good laugh.”

The “good laugh” grinds my gears. I don’t know if this Redditor exaggerated a bit. But if this all happened as told, that Vespa rider had some nerve. Seriously, they could have just rolled their scooter up on the sidewalk and run in for some donuts. Their passenger could even have watched the thing.

The Redditor suggested their girlfriend circle the block while they buy the donuts. On the way, he passed the Vespa-riders who were still dismounting. And inside, things got interesting.

“The line is super long for doughnuts and since this is the last batch, the doughnuts are slim pickins.” That’s when the two Vespa riders get in line behind our hero. “I hear one of them jokingly mention ‘thank god we got a parking spot’ and they burst out laughing.”

That’s when the jilted driver comes up with an evil plan. “I get to the front of the line, and when asked for my order, request two dozen doughnuts, which is every last one remaining.”

The shocked girls watched the baker load up the last of the donuts and asked, “What, youre not even gonna save a few for us though?” And that’s when the Redditor turned around and said, “Sorry, first come first serve.”

I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t have thought of something so clever in the moment. I’m usually about ten minutes out of a conversation when the perfect comeback hits me. But this Redditor got his quippy one-liner, and revenge by the dozens. See the entire story embedded below:
