2023 has been a tough year for car enthusiasts. BMW announced it’s ending manual transmission M cars, the manual Golf GTI and R are dead, and the best driver’s cars are now more expensive than ever. If that’s all got you down, I have some news that might cheer you up. Used Audi R8 models are now stunningly affordable, despite this being the last year of R8 production.

A used Audi R8 with decent mileage sells for under $65,000

Let’s be honest, $60,000 is a lot of money. But in today’s landscape of near six-figure M3 and M4s, getting a legitimate supercar for under $60k is nothing to sneeze at. Sure, a brand-new Mazda Miata or GR86 costs just $30,000. But the Audi R8 is twice as much fun, so the price tag seems reasonable, overall.

To get the cheapest used Audi R8, you’ll have to make some engagement sacrifices. You’ll end up with an automatic instead of a manual, and a V8 instead of the screaming V10. Still, the R8 chassis and steering are well worth the price of admission. Plus, the NA V8 howls its way to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds as it throws down 420 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.

Typically, affordable supercars come with some big caveats, like high mileage or dodgy service records. But the used Audi R8 models I keep finding come from seemingly respectable dealers. One even comes out of Audi South Orlando. A 4.2-liter V8 model with 63,000 miles can be yours for just a shade under $63,000.

Used manual Audi R8 models command a higher price

As you’d expect given their status as an endangered species, nabbing a used Audi R8 with a manual transmission will cost you quite a bit more. The minimum price for a decent model in this spec is around $85,000, and most command over $90,000. That’s still not bad money compared to a brand-new supercar, but it does push a pre-owned R8 well above anything you could consider affordable.

Much like their manual counterparts, a used Audi R8 V10 in good shape starts at around $80,000. This price holds true across both coupe and Spyder models, so your choice of roof won’t do much to save you any cash. And while the first-gen R8 V10 is a work of art, there’s no denying it’s going to cost you a pretty penny to take home.

Audi R8 values will just continue to rise

Now that the R8 is going out of production, it’s hard to see the price of pre-owned R8 models falling, even as they age. At this point, the car is a collector’s item as much as it is a car. That’s bad news for car enthusiasts who simply want an accessible supercar. If you’re thinking about getting your hands on one, the time to bite is now. Sure, buying the cheapest used Audi R8 might be a recipe for maintenance issues later on. But it may also be your last chance to enjoy such a unique experience before they become unobtanium.
