I’m in no way suggesting you drive while drunk or even buzzed. But wouldn’t you think if you were driving drunk, the police station is the one place you’d avoid at all costs? Not one Michigan man, who cruised right into the lion’s den. His trip ended in handcuffs.

Troy Police cite drunk man…for driving to the police station

Troy, Michigan is a town in the greater Detroit metropolitan area. According to the Troy Police Department, a 43-year-old resident rolled up to the police station and came inside voluntarily. Why? His wife was in the PD’s short-term lockup facility and he wanted to deliver her medication.

Police noticed,  “he was unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.”

Officers asked how he’d traveled to the station and he admitted he’d driven himself. So they required he perform sobriety evaluations before leaving. “Officers noted he performed poorly.”

That was all the evidence the police needed to order a breathalyzer test. The good news is he was already at the station so they could use the more accurate desktop breathalyzer machine. Even so, officers did two tests to be certain. The results were .175% and .177%. The legal limit in Michigan is of course 0.8%.

The man was arrested and received a citation for operating while intoxicated. I guess the silver lining is this happy couple’s now reunited.
