Man arrested over dealership heist that nabbed 3 luxury cars
Police finally cracked the case on a complex, multi-dealership heist in which three criminals made off with three luxury cars. Here’s how they did it–and who’s behind bars.
Three criminals smashed the window to a Lancaster, Pennsylvanian dealership’s office. Then they started grabbing keys for luxury cars. They raced off in one Range Rover and two Mercedes-Benz vehicles. But that wasn’t their final stop.
The same three criminals then broke into Toyota of York and grabbed three dealership registration plates. They seemed to think the dealership registrations–from another dealership–would keep them under the radar as they escaped with the cars.
How the dealership car heist failed
This multi-step heist didn’t account for one thing: Modern cars have GPS locators. Police simply accessed the Range Rover’s GPS and tracked it to Maryland. They recovered the vehicle, which was still wearing temp plates from Toyota of York.
Once they had the Range Rover, they simply lifted fingerprints then double-checked them with the suspect’s phone records. That’s what led police to Corey Pierre Pollard (41) of Columbia. He turned himself in to police in Atlanta, Georgia.
Police report they’re still looking for the rest of the crew. If Lancaster, PA residents are getting déjà vu, it might be because the town just suffered a similarly brazen–and similarly poorly planned–car heist.
Miguel Angel Dejesus-Gomez walked into a high-end car auction wearing a bright orange vest and carrying a clipboard, then tried to drive a Mercedes-Benz out. He didn’t account for how difficult the performance car would be to drive and crashed before getting off the property.
