Loud truck engine leads Florida police to $25k construction site theft suspect
I have personally experienced the joy of driving loud trucks. But sometimes your truck can be too loud. One theft suspect in Florida was caught by the police because his truck was too loud. He led officers directly to his location.
Florida thief caught by police due to loud truck
Police officers from Palm Beach County, Florida, responded to complaints about a loud truck on the corner of Nash Trail and Caramel Lane in Greenacres.
Reportedly, the vehicle was repeatedly revving its engine. But officers didn’t see anything on the road during a 45-minute search.
Then they noticed that it was stuck in the sand at an empty construction site. According to Fox San Antonio, the driver was identified as 45-year-old Daniel Beale. Beale explained that he was looking for a shortcut and got stuck.
But the officers noticed that 21 fittings were connected to a PVC pipe in plain view. A canvas covered PVC pipes with missed fittings. Also, tire tracks lead to his truck.
Beale then claimed that his father hired the construction company, and he works there. But his truck was towed. Then he was released later that day because they couldn’t reach a representative from the construction company.
The next day, the company reported that $24,505 worth of materials, including 35 brass fittings, were missing. Downrite Construction, the company overseeing the project, decided to prosecute.
Beale was arrested when he attempted to retrieve his vehicle from the tow truck lot. He was booked on counts of grand theft and criminal mischief. However, he still maintains that he was simply looking for a shortcut.
