Chrysler and Dodge have always done well to keep their fans happy, including offering a “Last Call” edition of the soon-to-be discontinued Dodge Challenger and Charger models. With Dodge aiming to keep fans happy and their ability to celebrate the past, just how good was the final year of the historic Dodge Grand Caravan?

Did this special final-year minivan celebrate its roots as the iconic family car of the ’80s for the ever-evolving American family? Here is everything you need to know about the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan.

A disappointing ending

The 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan was a disappointment, to say the least. Upon release, the 2020 Grand Caravan was ranked as the worst minivan on the market by Car and Driver.

There was no final-year special edition model, there was no fanfare, just a quiet, undeserved ending for the Dodge minivan. Here at Motorbiscuit, we reported that this van was largely unchanged from the 2008 model.

The 2020 Caravan did not offer adaptive cruise control, rear collision avoidance, or blind spot monitoring, and was absent from any Apple CarPlay or Andriod Auto integration. While the 2020 Caravan did offer a rearview camera, this was a government-mandated safety feature by the 2020 model year.

What made the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan so disappointing?

The 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan was simply not a very good vehicle. Its 3.6L V6 engine did offer plenty of torque and power, especially for a minivan, but its subpar fuel economy numbers of 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway were incredibly disappointing.

According to U.S. News, consumers also had many issues with the 2020 Caravan. These issues include premature brake wear, engine stalling, transmission failure, and faulty air conditioning components.

Is the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan a good minivan?

No, the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan is not a good minivan. When new, the only positive component of the 2020 Caravan was its affordability; it was the cheapest minivan on the market.

But today, years later, there is a wide selection of other minivans you should consider before purchasing a Dodge Grand Caravan. Just about every Grand Caravan model year from 2008 through 2020 should be avoided due to their reliability issues and lack of features.

Instead of a Dodge Grand Caravan, consider other better minivans including the Chrysler Pacifica and the Honda Odyssey, both of which can be found on the used marketplace for just a small price premium over a late-model Dodge Grand Caravan.
