Honda markets the latest model of its popular Honda Odyssey as “The Fun Family Minivan.” But with that pitch, you should know exactly what you’re getting. After all, if you’re looking to buy a new Odyssey to transport your most valuable possessions, you’ll want to make sure that it’s not only fun but also safe, spacious, and reliable. And if it checks all the boxes, you’ll want to know if it’s affordable. So, what comes in a fully loaded 2023 Honda Odyssey, how much does it cost, and is it worth the extra spend?

In addition to the “Fun Family Minivan” pitch, Honda’s marketers have leaned into pricing options to entice consumers to buy a Honda Odyssey. The 2023 model comes in five trim levels: EX, EX-L, Sport, Touring, and Elite. And by placing a $12,000 gap between the EX and the Elite, Honda ensures budget-conscious shoppers keep this minivan in mind.

The base-model EX may be for you if you’re on a budget. Starting at $37,340, the EX rides on 18-inch wheels and packs a 280-hp V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, providing solid driving performance. And for a base model, it boasts a surprising number of standard features. You’ll get a seven-speaker audio system, tri-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and Honda Sensing — a suite of advanced safety features including adaptive cruise control. In addition, the base model has Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth integration.

But if you’ve got a little more money to spend, you might opt for the $40,410 EX-L, which adds a power liftgate, moonroof, leather seats, and privacy glass. The new Sport trim starts at $41,210 and includes 19-inch wheels, heated front seats, and specialized interior styling. And the Touring, which will set you back $44,450, tacks on built-in navigation, a rear seat entertainment system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB ports throughout the cabin.

How much does a fully loaded 2023 Honda Odyssey cost?

But if you’re looking to splurge on a 2023 Honda Odyssey, you’ll consider the Elite, starting at $49,470. The Elite will treat you to all of the perks of the other trims, plus a wireless phone charger, an 11-speaker premium audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, multi-zone audio capabilities, and Honda’s Cabin Watch and Cabin Talk features.

That’s not all. For an extra $395, you can choose a premium paint color if you don’t like the Odyssey’s standard black, silver, steel metallic, or blue shades. You can also keep your Elite well-maintained with an All-Season Protection Package ($509), including floor mats, a splash guard set, and a cargo tray. And you have a range of accessories to choose from, such as a bike frame mount ($211), body side molding ($253), crossbars ($219), door chrome trim ($373), a trailer hitch ($426), and even a tent ($408).

Honda offers 40 exterior and interior accessories to choose from. If you opt for all the top-of-the-line accessories, along with the All-Season Protection Package, your fully loaded 2023 Honda Odyssey Elite will cost around $57,760, plus taxes and fees.

Which trim should you buy?

Even if you have the money for one, the Elite might not be the best 2023 Honda Odyssey model for your needs. Each trim has the same powertrain performance and handling, so it’s a good idea to look closely at the bells and whistles you really need and those you could do without.

Car and Driver recommends the Sport trim, given its unique styling and larger wheels. Though you won’t be tackling rugged terrain in this minivan, it’s well-priced for the features it offers. By contrast, Autotrader recommends the standard EX. Noting this trim offers the best value, the publication further mentions that if you’re looking for safety and convenience, you’ll get those in the EX.

Interestingly, neither publication sees enough value in the Elite’s fun or family-centric features, such as the rear entertainment system or Cabin Watch/Cabin Talk, to recommend the range-topping trim over less expensive models. Regardless, Honda offers a minivan with options for various tastes, interests, and budgets.
