This Ford Ranger Model Tows 10,000 lbs But There’s 1 Catch
I’m not pulling your leg! There’s a mid-size truck that can tow up to 10,000 lbs, meaning you can get by without a massive full-size option. A certain Ford Ranger model has that extra muscle. I bet tons of drivers would go for it if they could.
This Ford Ranger model tows up to 10,000 lbs
Currently, most mid-size trucks tow between 5,000 to 7,700 lbs. If you need the ability to tow more weight, then you have to move up to a full-size truck.
However, one Ford Ranger model can actually tow up to 10,000 lbs. It can carry a payload up to 10,000 lbs too. It’s known as the Ford Ranger Super Duty.
It gets the big truck treatment in a mid-size package thanks to a heavy-duty rear axle. The Ranger Super Duty has a thicker frame with reinforced suspension mounts, box mount brackets, and tow bar mounts.
It has rugged and heavier-duty improvements to handle treacherous terrain. Plus, it’s available with a standard pickup truck bed or a flat bed. Also, a snorkel is standard as it can ford up to 33.5 inches of water.
The Super Duty Ranger has front and rear locking differentials and rides on all-terrain tires. Its undercarriage is protected by high-strength steel bash plates.
Here’s the dreaded catch, though. According to Ford, this build is paired with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine with improved cooling. This engine doesn’t meet American emission standards.
This Ranger, like other cool models such as the PHEV, isn’t available in the United States. But this Australian model has a lot in common with the American one. All we can do here is upgrade to a bigger truck.
