A drunk woman was quickly apprehended by the police after she hit a police car with her SUV. To make matters worse, the SUV burst into flames. Alcohol and fire isn’t the best combination but drinking and driving is never good either!

Two Osseo police officers were conducting a routine traffic stop in Minnesota when things escalated quickly. Suddenly they noticed that an SUV was speeding out of control in their direction. The SUV slammed into one of their police cruisers. 

The force of the accident caused the squad car to slam into two other vehicles. Then the SUV went up in flames. 

The officers sprang into action despite the danger and pulled the impaired driver to safety as the flames grew. She has a blood alcohol content of 0.13, which is above the legal limit of 0.08. 

She was quickly arrested at the scene and luckily, no one was injured. According to Bring Me The News, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety would like to use this incident as a reminder to not drink and drive.

Impaired drivers threaten the lives of everyone on the road, not just their own. Drive sober and save lives. 

Around Christmas, 40% of traffic-related deaths involve drunk drivers. This is a 12% increase compared to the rest of December. Then New Year’s Eve is the deadliest day of the year with DUIs increasing by 129% above average. 

It’s estimated that a life is claimed every 42 minutes by a drunk driver between November and January 1. In 2021, about 1,247 people lost their lives during alcohol-related crashes during this period. 

Don’t become a statistic! Plan ahead by staying in or finding a designated driver. Otherwise, your night could go up in flames, or much worse.
