Ever been tailgated by an impatient driver and wished for a way to teach them a lesson? One grocery delivery driver in Amsterdam found the perfect opportunity to do just that. Thanks to a perfectly placed speed bump, he turned the tables on a tailgating BMW driver and served up sweet, sweet karma.
Baiting a tailgating BMW
In a viral Reddit post, Dutch user Maar7en shared how he dealt with a tailgating BMW. The BMW driver, whom he nicknamed “Mr. F––stick von D––nozzel,” was “flashing his lights, honking, and driving 10 cm from my bumper.”
“I was already doing about 50 km/h (31 mph) in a 30 zone,” he wrote. “But this d—– felt the need to keep riding me.”
The street was a “single lane, one-way road in the middle of a residential area. The only connection between two parts of the city. No turnoffs, no options to pass.” In other words: von had nowhere to go, but he was being a jerk anyway.
Maar7en knew the road and its quirks well. A specific speed bump ahead was meant for city buses, not cars. “The bump was designed for busses. The wheels of a bus go left and right of the bump. Cars HAVE to take it.”
So he baited von. “I start to speed up, go to about 70 km/h (43 mph) just before the bump.” He added, “I timed it perfectly.” Von, however, did not see it coming.
“I look in the mirror and see sparks. I hear a scraping sound and he hits his brakes hard,” Maar7en wrote. “He kept his distance after that.”
Internet loved the tailgating BMW takedown
Reddit erupted with applause. “OMG what sweet revenge,” one commenter wrote. “Congrats for doing us all a favor.”
Another chimed in: “Thanks for teaching this p—- a lesson!” Another user simply said: “That is f—ing gold dude. 100X more effective than a brake check. Bravo.”
The OP’s neighbor summed it up: “From a fellow Amsterdammer, thanks. These people deserve much worse.”
A speed bump, a little planning, and a lot of petty
For Maar7en, it wasn’t just about revenge—it was about reclaiming sanity on narrow, medieval roads. A tailgating BMW driver may think he owns the road. But sometimes, the road fights back. You can see Maar7en’s post embedded below:
Tailgate and honk on a single lane street, how’d that work out for you?
